When you're a mum, there's no such thing as 9-5. And here's proof.

One of the best parts about being a busy woman is the way moments of complete and utter frustration become some of our funniest and warmest memories… Even when that said moment occurs in the early hours of the morning in the form of a demanding child or a friend in need.

The demands of families and our careers can be around-the-clock with no start and finish times. It’s rewarding and demanding. It’s amazing and consuming. The demands of babies change into those of a toddler and then into those of a young child and before we know it, we’re dealing with teenagers who want to borrow our car.

Life passes us by so quickly and the busier we are, the faster it seems to go. It’s the times when we sit down and share some of our memories that help us to slow down and reflect, particularly when precious down time is hard to find.

In part one of our eight-part 5 to 9 diaries, we ask the question, “What time does your day start and finish?”

The answers will delight and surprise.

NESCAFÉ Café Menu® Team, has acknowledged that the modern Australian woman is busier and working longer hours than ever before.

Research shows that the traditional 9 to 5 workday does not exist; instead 5 to 9 is a better reflection of modern women today.

To salute the heroic efforts of women and encourage them to take a moment for themselves, we have re-recorded the classic song, ‘9 to 5’ and created a music video showcasing all the challenges women deal with in their 5 to 9 day.

Now tell us, what time does your day start and finish?

Thanks for the video, it demonstrates why Rose and Em's articles are always so hysterical and well done- because that is who and how they are as people. Really beautiful, funny, compassionate. Would love to see more of this. By the way both of you look sooo pretty.

Oh my god. I am so busy. Busy, busy, busy.

My toddler wakes me up at 4am and I have to go and watch videos with him until 6am when hubby gets up. Then I make him breakfast and do the school lunches. Then I drive miss 11 and miss 13 to school. Then it's play group, coffee with mums club, book club, gym.

Busy, busy, busy! Then I have to pick miss 11 and miss 13 up from school and take miss 11 to dance class and miss 13 to drama.

Then I come home and make dinner, clean up, lie with the toddler until he goes to sleep and clean up after dinner. Then I do house work (ironing, tidying up, folding and putting away clothes) until about 11.

Then I catch up with mamamia and read all about Nescafé Cafe a Menu before falling exhausted into bed about midnight.

Luckily I have Nescafé Cafe Menu to keep me caffeinated all day. So yummy and stimulating!

Why do you "have" to go and watch videos with your toddler at 4am for two hours! It's a choice, not something you have to do. Tell him that it's still night time, leave a couple of toys in his cot, say goodnight and shut the door, then go back to sleep until 6am. It's easy!
