Are Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson still together? An investigation.

Sometimes, a media story is so pervasive, so important, but so confusing, a brave journalist must devote their time to getting to the bottom of it.

Khloe Kardashian’s relationship status with Tristan Thompson is one such story. This is very important to our lives, because Kardashians, but also baby, but also basketball.

One month ago, Khloe Kardashian, 33, was getting ready to give birth to her first child with 27-year-old Cleveland Cavaliers star Tristan Thompson.

Then, just days before her due date, a number of reports broke. Thompson had allegedly been caught cheating on her.

In two videos, said to have been filmed on the previous Saturday night, Thompson could be seen first talking to a woman at a New York City club before leaning in to kiss her, then walking to a hotel with the same woman.

In a third video, filmed in October at a bar near Washington, Thompson kisses two women, and puts his head into the chest of one woman as she puts her hand on his crotch. Kardashian was three months pregnant at the time.

Since baby True was born on April 12, fans have speculated as to whether the couple are still together.

Let’s consider the evidence:

1. The post-birth Instagram post

In her first public statement since the cheating scandal and her birth, Khloe Kardashian shared a very pointed message.

“Our little girl, True Thompson, has completely stolen our hearts and we are overwhelmed with LOVE,” she wrote. “Such a blessing to welcome this angel into the family! Mommy and Daddy loooooove you True!”

Pause.

The use of the terms ‘our,’ ‘we’ and ‘Mommy and Daddy’ seem to suggest she is still with Thompson. Surely if she had left, or was planning on leaving him, her language would be more individual. It sounds as though Thompson was present for the birth and is actively involved in the early stages of parenting.

At least, that’s what we can gather from Instagram. Which obviously tells us the truth about everything, always.

2. The People report that Khloe kicked Tristan out

Less than a week after Kardashian gave birth, People reported she was staying in Thompson’s house in Cleveland but had kicked him out.

A source reportedly told the publication that while Thompson was dropping by to spend time with his newborn daughter, Kardashian had “very little” to do with him.

Other sources told People the new mum was keen to return to LA to be with her family, but was staying in Cleveland due to “doctor’s orders”. She was reportedly receiving support from her mum and her best friend, Malika Haqq.

But surely if she wanted to return to LA, she could’ve done so by now?

3. All the other tabloid reports that say a million different things

After claiming Kardashian had kicked her baby’s father out of their shared home, People then reported the couple were living together and “there’s no talk of a split”.

A source said she was determined to make her family work.

E! News reported on April 25 that Kardashian was “undecided” when it came to Thompson.

“Khloe is taking it one day at a time with Tristan,” a source said. “[She] feels like she is living in her own personal hell.”

“Tristan has desperately been trying to keep Khloe happy and make their relationship work, but she thinks it’s too far done.”

The source also said no one in Khloe’s family was speaking to her partner, and there’s significant “tension” between Thompson and the Kardashian family.

Then, a source reportedly told TMZ the relationship was “hanging by a thread,” and that Kardashian is “nowhere near forgiving Tristan”.

WHO ARE THESE SOURCES AND HOW DO WE EVEN KNOW WHAT THEY’RE SAYING IS LEGIT.

4. Kim Kardashian’s interview with Ellen

Just over two weeks after Khloe gave birth, Kim Kardashian was the first family member to speak publicly about Thompson’s infidelity in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres.

“Poor Khloe. I don’t even know how to describe it besides it’s just so f**ked up,” she told the talk show host.

“We really were rooting for Khloe and we still are. She’s so strong and she’s doing the best that she can. It’s a really sad situation all over.

"I kind of made this rule with my brother. If there’s a baby involved, I’m going to keep it cute and classy and try not to say anything negative because one day True is going to see this. It’s just so messed up."

Interesting.

While Kim's feelings about Tristan's cheating were clear, there was no talk of a split.

5. Kris Jenner's interview with Ellen

While Ellen DeGeneres isn't necessarily known for asking the hard-hitting questions, she's probably been the most productive investigative journalist when it comes to Khloe Kardashian's current relationship status.

Speaking to Kris Jenner on Friday, Ellen asked about Thompson's cheating.

Jenner said it was "very unexpected," telling Ellen her daughter is "just concentrating on... being a mum. She's figuring it out one day at a time."

Ellen then tried to get an authentic answer from Jenner about the family's reaction to the scandal. "As a mum... it's your daughter, and she's about to have a baby. Literally. Any day," DeGeneres said. "Then that video comes out of him. I mean, you must... like what are you doing to my daughter, number one. You must have been furious."
