Welcome to Shocker, Hero and Whinger of the Week. Here’s how it works: Each week, we will pick the biggest Shocker, Hero and Whinger from the last seven days. Shocker is whatever moment or person left our jaws on the floor. Hero is whoever won the week by being awesome. Whinger? Well, that’s pretty much just someone who has had a major sooky-la-la moment. Let’s do this.
Shocker of the Week goes to…
Schapelle Corby’s former lawyer, Kerry Smith Douglas, for telling Today host Karl Stefanovic that Schapelle will likely celebrate her release by lighting up a ‘big marijuana joint the size of a cigar’.
Karl’s face is priceless:

Hero of the week goes to…
Google, for supporting LGBT rights on the opening day of the Sochi Olympics. They subtly told Russia where they could shove their hienous anti-LGBT propoganda laws by making the Google homepage a Sochi-themed tribute to gay pride:
Whinger of the week goes to…
Dmitry Kozak, Russian deputy Prime Minister in charge of Olympic preparations.
When asked at a press conference why facilities in hotels around Sochi have been extremely sub-par, he got a little sooky, and accidently said something he shouldn’t have in the process. Something about everyone being liars. Something about knowing everyone are liars because there are hidden cameras in the hotel rooms… According to The Wall Street Journal, Dmitry Kozak
“…reflected the view held among many Russian officials that some Western visitors are deliberately trying to sabotage Sochi’s big debut out of bias against Russia. “We have surveillance video from the hotels that shows people turn on the shower, direct the nozzle at the wall and then leave the room for the whole day,” he said. An aide then pulled a reporter away before Mr. Kozak could be questioned further on surveillance in hotel rooms.”
Woops.
Who’s been your Shocker, Hero and Whinger of the week?
