Not every celebrity wedding features 100 of famous guests, as the ceremony for this A-list British actress proves.

Actress Keira Knightley (28) has married her rock star fiancé, Klaxons keyboard player James Righton (29) this weekend in a surprise ceremony, in the south of France.

The pair were married in an understated, half-hour ceremony in Mazon, a small town where Knightley’s parents have an estate. The pair exchanged their vows in front of a dozen people (in fact, it was reportedly only 11!), including Knightley’s parents.

An onlooker told US Weekly,”It was a very moving ceremony … Keira looked emotional during the whole thing. She cried when they exchanged their vows but was still smiling.”

After leaving the Mazan town hall, hand-in-hand with Righton, Knightley and her new husband jumped into a battered silver Renault Clio.

The eyewitness to the ceremony told US Weekly, “It was amusing to see them being driven away in a battered old Renault Clio … The car certainly looked as though it had seen better days.”

Knightley and Righton went public with their romance at the beginning of 2011, and Righton proposed in May 2012.

Oscar-nominated Knightley wore a gorgeous tulle dress and cropped jacket in neutral shades – both by Chanel. The actress also wore a wreath of flowers in her hair.
