The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have welcomed their third child.

Kensington Palace has announced The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have welcomed their third child, a boy.

In a statement, the palace confirmed the birth and said both Duchess and baby are doing well.

“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs. The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz,” Kensington Palace wrote on Twitter.

“The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”

It’s not yet clear what the boy’s name is.

The royal baby will be fifth in line to the British throne, behind his two siblings; George, aged four, and Charlotte, aged two.

In September last year, the Palace confirmed The Duchess’ pregnancy after she was forced to cancel public events and appearances because of severe morning sickness.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child,” Kensington Palace officially confirmed at the time.

“As with her previous two pregnancies, the Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum.”

Hyperemesis Gravidarum, a form of severe and acute morning sickness, led to the Duchess being hospitalised early in her pregnancy.

As such, she was not able to take the couple's eldest child, Prince George, off to school for the first time in September as she battled the sickness.

Thankfully, the whole family is now happy and healthy.

Congratulations!

In other royal news, the Royals are only allowed to wear a single shade of nail polish, and we’re not sure we love it...
