Hello Beliebers,
Before I say anything, let me start with this: My name is Michelle Elizabeth Andrews. I have three siblings, and two dogs, and I come in peace. It’s a you’re-gonna-want-to-run-me-over-with-your-car kind of peace, but it’s peace nonetheless.
Whatever happens in the next 400 words, please remember I don’t want to hurt you or your family, and I don’t want to throw shade at your beloved peroxide-headed toyboy.
I just want to… understand you.
Please, Beliebers. Help me understand you. I so desperately want to understand you and be part of your cool group. In the last 24 hours I’ve been instantaneously relegated to the fringes of society and it’s cold and lonely and dark out here and I don’t think any of my friends want to be my friends anymore.
I JUST WANT TO FIT IN AND FEEL LIKE A HUMAN PERSON AGAIN, OK?
Please trust that I will tread carefully, and in return, I hope you will spare my life and my social media pages from a torrent of vitriolic abuse.
OK… here we go.
If at any point you feel a rapid increase in core body temperature and/or pure unadulterated rage, remember there’s an ‘exit’ button, and it looks a little something like this:
You see today, October 12 - which shall now forever be known as the day Purpose World Tour concert tickets went on sale - a few peculiar things happened.
- I observed my best friends explode all over the Facebook News Feed with pure excitement.
- I listened to a fully-grown adult sob heavily on the radio.
- I watched a middle-aged man make desperate phone calls on behalf of his daughter for two hours.
- I overheard a colleague describe the act of buying a $600 ticket as "worth it".
- I banged my head violently against my work desk, repeating the phrase "what the fucking fucksticks fuck" about twenty-seven times.
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT IS HAPPENING.
Don't get me wrong, I understand a wee bit of excitement that Justin's coming to our precious land of Tim-Tams and all that is holy.
Like, sure, his latest album was pretty good. I listened to it a fair bit at the gym in December 2015 and I liked it. And yes, OK OK OK, if someone made me stare at nothing but the man's cherubic face for a full day, I probably wouldn't be mad about it.
But what I don't get, Belieber friends, is the all-out maniacal frenzy that has descended on our modest nation.
Justin Bieber's concert has become a bigger deal Down Under than chucking a sickie to attend a Bunning's sausage sizzle.
His fame has eclipsed that of Taylor and Beyonce and Tim-Tams combined.
And, well, some of you have become a little... "intense"... with your fandom lately. And by "intense", I obviously mean "bloody batshit crazy".
If I'm honest, I have no desire to buy a ticket to Justin Bieber's concert. The mere thought of spending hundreds of my hard-earned clams on one makes me feel like I've eaten too much potato salad.
Justin Bieber is a good singer who sings catchy songs, yes. He's also an attractive specimen with lots of bad boy tattoos, yes. But please tell me, am I missing something when it comes to the Biebs?
Because I Just. Don't. Get. It.
Does this mean I am defunct as a human being?
Do you all hate me now?
Will I be friendless forever?
... Can I at least keep my dogs?

I don't get it either, neither did my mum get my obsession with Bay City Rollers.
I am a belieber since 2009. What I can tell u is that Justin makes us beliebers smile and see that dreams can happen with hard work. Yes he has his flaws but beliebers see past that because we know his heart and his true intentions. He wants to make people feel good, he wants to help people get through everyday life, he makes us smile, he makes good music. I'm a suicide survivor and the only reason why I am here today is because of Justin's song life is worth living. It helped me to realize that i am here for a reason and everyday holds something new. If your asking why his beliebers do what we do with buying 2,000 tickets, spending hundreds on merchandise, and traveling from all around the world just to see him. It is because we are seeing the person that helps us get through so really tough times and makes us smile even when we don't want too.
