She converted to Islam and then ran off to become a jihadi bride — leaving her children alone in Sydney.
A single mother from Sydney has abandoned her two child to join the Islamic State.
Jasmina Milovanov, 26, hired a baby sitter to take care of her children, aged five and seven, before fleeing to Syria.
It is believed she was recruited by Melbourne woman, Zehra Duman, with whom she was friends on Facebook.
According to News Corp, Ms Milovanov left the children with a teenage babysitter, who later gave the kids to a Sydney-based relative.
It was two weeks after her disappearance that Ms Milovanov’s allegedly posted an explanatory Facebook post.
“Alhumdilla in the blessed land of Islam,” she supposedly wrote in a status obtained by News Corp.
“Plz forgive me for not responding to peoples texts n calls … bad reception here.
“Alhumdillah I am okay … Please forgive me for everything.”
The post has since been deleted, and Mamamia could not find the account to which it belonged.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports the Australian Federal Police are investigating the case, but could not confirm the specific details to the media.
Her estranged husband told News Corp he received a text from his former wife, and told the media outlet he was “absolutely shocked”.
He also said she was impressionable and he feared for her life.
“Before she (left) I talked to her (about the extreme Facebook posts). I said this is extreme, stupid. I was warning her about who she hang out with.” he said.
The woman believed to have spoken to Ms Milovanov is infamous for recruiting other jihadi brides.
Zehra Duman made headlines earlier this year after her husband, Melbourne man Mahmoud Abdullatif, was killed fighting with ISIS.
