An infant has died in hospital after being hit by a reversing four-wheel drive being driven by his mother at Woodridge, south of Brisbane.
The seven-month-old boy was in a pram when he was hit on St Paul’s Drive about 2:00pm.
He was taken to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in a critical condition but was pronounced dead a short time later, the Queensland Police Service said.
Senior Sergeant Tony Jackson said the Brisbane woman was leaving a funeral at a Catholic Church on the street when she backed over the pram.
He said it was a terrible tragedy.
“The forensic crash unit remains on scene. The woman is being cared for by police and is assisting them with their investigation,” he said.
“It’s a timely reminder to parents if they have children that are in prams or walking around vehicles [to] ensure that they know exactly where they are.”
Senior Sergeant Jackson said they were not sure whether the pram was on the footpath or on the roadway behind the vehicle.
The mother was not physically injured.

Happy New Year! I find it really difficult to constantly see such tragedy heartache and all these news stories that are reported on and then discussed over the dinner table. What happened to good news stories??? Why are we shown highlights of all the loss death and tragedy in 2016?? Let's focus on the new, hear something that pleases our hearts and puts a smile on our face. Is our fear as parents that something awful may happen to our families or us dwelling on these bad news stories ? leading people to depression ? Is this almost the only topic of our discussions these days? Bring back some positivity .... and some good news please!
So she ran over her own baby??
It usually is a parent running over their child unfortunately.
