These identical twins married identical twins. Now they're telling us how they keep the spark alive.

Life these days is pretty darn peachy for identical twin sisters Brittany and Briana Deane Salyers

It’s been fives years since the pair simultaneously said “I do” to their husbands – identical twin brothers Josh and Jeremy Salyers.

The four of them now live together in a giant mansion they call Smith Mountain Manor in the US state of Virginia, along with their two-year-old sons.

Born just three months apart, little Jett and Jax are not only cousins but full genetic siblings, or ‘quaternary twins’. While they didn’t share a womb or even a parent, they do have the same DNA.

“Sometimes I think you get used to living to the dream,” Briana, 36, told People magazine. “It’s nice to take some time to remind yourself of how badly you wanted it when you were younger and how impossible it seemed at times growing up and when we were dating.

“And now we have it. So that keeps us going.”

A twin proposal and quaternary marriage.

After attempting to date “singletons” who would get annoyed when they weren’t Brittany or Briana’s other half (the girls already had each other – a literal other half), the sisters met the brothers at the Twins Day Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio in 2017.

A year later the couples wed during a joint ceremony at the festival, after the boys proposed, down on the same bended knee, at a park called Twin Lakes on February 2 (gee, they really do have a thing for twos).

In matching dresses and veils with a  "Twice Upon a Time" theme, Brittany and Briana married Josh and Jeremy – who are now 39 – in front of friends, family, and thousands of other twins – with twin chaplains sealing the deal.

Five years on, the foursome is living the realities of a ‘quaternary marriage’ – which is when identical twins marry identical twins. Briana previously told USA Today that “there’s only 300 quaternary marriages known in the history of the world.”

So how does it all work?

While the six of them share the manor – which they rent out for weddings – the two dads keep busy with the venue hire business while the two mums are attorneys in the same law firm.

Together they work as four parents to their toddlers who are more like brothers.

“Technically, Josh and I are the parents of baby Jett – I gave birth to Jett – but really Jett has four biological parents,” Brittany said on Extreme Sisters.

While Briana told People that “sometimes they [the boys] both want one mum, or they’ll turn around and both want the other mom."

But when it comes to spats between the siblings, everyone else stays out of it.

“If Josh and Jeremy are in an argument, Briana and I try not to get into it,” Brittany told People. “If Briana and I are in a disagreement, Josh and Jeremy try to not get into it. That’s probably good advice for anybody who’s married.”

They’ve also got a “forever dating” strategy which means they never “leave the bathroom door open”.

“Each couple does a good job of striking that balance of, yes, being best friends and family, but still keeping a certain formality,” Brittany added. “I think a lot of couples slip into that, and I think that works against them.

“We’re so close, but we do keep it a romantic relationship.”
