“It was the perfect weekend to farewell our best mate.”
Hi readers and welcome to Mamamia’s open post. If you’re new around here, this is the place on Mamamia where we come together and chat about our weeks. Nothing’s off limits, so feel free to be as honest as you want.
I’ll start.
This weekend, I went away to Hunter Valley in New South Wales with eight of my closest friends. We spent two days in a beautiful cottage with no phone reception and spent our Saturday walking from vineyard to vineyard, taste-testing wine and just being with each other.
We were there to farewell our beautiful friend who has moved to New York City. For some of us, it was the last time we’ll see her for the foreseeable future, so we were all understandably very sad.
But instead of spending our last weekend together curled up on the couch sobbing, we packed up the cars and drove the two hours to get to the Hunter. Having no reception forced us to just be with each other. We popped champagne, we cooked, we shared stories. It was incredible.
On the Saturday morning, half of us went for a run while the other half went for a leisurely walk around the property. After that, it was time for breakfast before we piled into a bus and made our way around the many, many vineyards in the Hunter Valley. When we were all well and truly done with drinking, we headed back to our cottage, made dinner and sat around a bonfire until late into the evening.
And as we said our goodbyes on Sunday, we knew that, over the weekend, we had all become that little bit closer.
It was the perfect weekend to farewell our best mate.
Now it’s your turn. What’s been going on in your week?
