Explain to me: What's the deal with Hillary Clinton and those emails?

Hillary Clinton’s inbox has been like a dogged cloud, trailing her presidential campaign and giving fire to her critics.

So why are the words Hillary Clinton and emails so intricately linked this year? And why are they suddenly popping up again with Anthony Weiner embroiled in the drama?

Clinton hasn’t really been able to break free from the revelation she used a private email address during her first stint at Secretary of State from 2009-2011. For security reasons alone, this was problematic for her campaign and her reputation.

After the FBI investigated, analysed 30,000+ official emails and interviewed Clinton, she was cleared in July.

But now it's all back in the news, and the Democrat candidate has a guy named Anthony Wiener to thank.

Luckily for you, we've unpacked the entire ordeal so you can get up to speed with why the FBI are re-investigating, why people think she may have to part ways with her closest aide, and what it means for a presidential race so very close to its end.

People try and make out these emails to be a sign of corruption, but the explanation is pretty simple. Whitehouse security is notoriously tough around IT security to the point of it being painful. President wants that new iPhone 7? Bad luck, you get an old Blackberry (true). When the rest of the country is on Google, you're on Altavista. Think of your typical big business IT department on steroids. When faced with such restrictions it makes getting work done difficult and it is inevitable the workers will try and find a workaround. That is what happened here. Were they stupid, of course, and probably reckless, but to try and paint it as more is incorrect.

Because you want the person who could have access to nuclear codes to have a history of being reckless and stupid.

Well it is her or Trump, and his record of being reckless and stupid is second to none.

That's so funny, because the other option is Trump, and he could not be more reckless or stupid if he tried! I'm having trouble stopping sniggering at your comment. Oh. My.

So what? Does trump being worse negate what Hillary did?

It's a shame, because they had a chance for a real visionary with Bernie Sanders and he would have had a real chance in defeating Donald Trump. Hilary is a career politician who doesn't seem to understand National Security or is actually corrupt, and has become poisonous to the Democrats, really. Donald Trump is going to win, I believe, and America will have the president they deserve. Hopefully, he doesn't end up nuking the world. Never underestimate how disillusioned rural America is with left wing politics.
