Sydney toddler dies after being left inside a car on Christmas Day.

A toddler has died after being left in a car parked outside a home in Sydney’s northwest on Christmas Day.

Emergency services were called to the Glenwood address at around 5pm, where they found the child’s relatives – including her grandmother, a registered nurse – attempting to revive her via CPR, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The toddler was rushed to Westmead Children’s Hospital in a critical condition, where she later died as a result of cardiac arrest.

“I saw someone carry a child out,” a neighbour told The Daily Telegraph. “So sad at any time of year, but at Christmas it’s so awful.”

Police are currently conducting investigations into how the little girl came to be left inside the car.

Among their lines of inquiry, according to The Daily Telegraph, are reports her family had become confused as to who was looking after her.

The paper reports that the child’s aunt and grandmother had joined her mother at the home to prepare for Christmas, and there was a misunderstanding about who was charged with her care.

It’s unclear whether the toddler was placed in the vehicle or entered it herself, as well as precisely how long she was there.

This is a harsh comment. Sounds like it may have been a horrible misunderstanding amongst busy Christmas Day activities. Accidents happen. Sometimes heartbreaking accidents happen...
