'I tried the face roller that promises to smooth wrinkles in 30 minutes. Here's my verdict.'

Mamamia’s Tried and Tested series is your review of the latest to hit our desks in beauty, health and wellbeing. You won’t find any #sponsored content here, just honest, relatable and independent advice. This week, Mamamia's Beauty Editor trials Freezeframe 48 Hour Wrinkle Freeze.

You know when you come across something that looks hella gimmicky? But then still really want to try it?? Just in case it MIGHT work?

Freeze Frame 48 Hour Wrinkle Freeze is one of those products.

It's been getting around for a while now (you can grab it in the chemist — it's currently $59) and it's still just as buzzy as it was when it hit shelves. Mostly because it promises to smooth wrinkles in 30 minutes, leaving you with line-free skin, without the need for injectables.

Sounds pretty good, right?

But does it actually work?

Well, I put it to the test so you don't have to.

What is Freeze Frame 48 Hour Wrinkle Freeze?

In case you haven't heard of it, Freeze Frame 48 Hour Wrinkle Freeze is a peptide-infused, coconut-water gel mask that promises to instantly smoothe and brighten the skin. In fact, it claims to smooth wrinkles up to 82 per cent for 48 hours. Which is a BIG call.

The product is 'part treatment mask, part cryotherapy treatment' and uses a patented ice-roller massage tool. You simply take the head of the roller off the tube and place in the fridge or freezer for half an hour.

You then pop the ice-roller back onto the tube and squeeze the mask onto your skin, massaging it into your face and around your eyes for an "instantly firming and de-puffing effect."

On the box, it says you can leave it for 10 minutes (before rinsing with water) for instantly smooth, hydrated, radiant skin, and for a full 30 minutes for wrinkle-freezing results. For long-term results, you can use it two to three times per week.

How did you go with it?

As someone with some niggling lines around my eyes and forehead, as well as a side of puffiness under my eyes, I was keen to see how this played out.

After unscrewing the ice roller and popping it in the fridge for 30 minutes, I fit it back on the tube and applied a thick layer of the mask to my face as per the directions (although, it feels like a lot and I'm not sure how long this tube would last, as it's only 60ml!) — gently squeezing to distribute the mask, massaging it in upwards motions around the contours of my entire face, jawline and neck.

And honestly, it felt really nice! Cooling! Relaxing!

Overall, the application was super easy and fuss-free. While it started absorbing quite fast, it didn't fully dry down and still felt a little sticky and tacky on the skin afterwards. However, it wasn't uncomfy and I could still move my face, etc.

I left it on for the full 30 minutes (it still felt really cool on my face!), because I never do things by halves.

The verdict.

Okay, while my wrinkles didn't completely ~disappear~ I did actually notice a difference in the lines around my eyes — while the deep ones are still *there*, the smaller, finer lines did in fact look smoother, more hydrated and not as hectic.

Before (left) and after (right)

As for my forehead lines — they were very much still there and not 'frozen', but they similarly appeared smoother and not as deep. What's more, I think my skin looked brighter, fresher and healthier.

Overall, I think this would be a great treatment to fight the morning puffiness or to use before an event to stop makeup from pilling in fine lines (which always happens and bugs the life out of me, tbh).

My skin felt beautifully soft and smooth after washing it off, and the hydration seemed to stick around — even in the chillier winter air (and in and out of heating), my skin felt comfortable, moisturised and didn't look gross under makeup.

So, there you have it!

If you're looking for a quick fix to help brighten, hydrate and temporarily smooth fine lines, give 'er a whirl!

Sounds like your skin was a bit dehydrated if product absorbed quickly…. and lines are less visible when skin is hydrated…..
