Actress Doris Roberts has passed away at the age of 90.
The much loved actress, known principally for her role as Ray’s loving (if annoying and overzealous) mother in the long-running sit-com Everybody Loves Raymond.
TMZ reports the actress passed away in Los Angeles on Sunday.
She leaves behind a son, Michael Cannata Jr., who she had with her first husband. The actress' second husband, William Goyen, passed away in 1983.
Roberts won five Emmy awards in her career. One in 1983 for St. Elsewhere and four for playing Marie Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond. Roberts comedic timing also stole the show when she starred in much loved comedy films such as National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
Our thoughts go out to Doris' family and friends.
Doris chats to Richard Reid for Studio 10:
Roberts' co-star Patricia Heaton shared the following post on Twitter:
“She was funny and tough and loved life, living it to the fullest," she wrote. "Nothing gave her greater joy than her three grandchildren, of whom she was so proud. It truly was a privelige Doris. I love you and I miss you.”
