Wow.
If you needed something to give you the impetus to donate more generously to charity, then this is it.
The horrifying juxtaposition of the first world’s materialistic nature with the absolute necessities of the third world.
Take a look:
Suddenly that designer handbag is not so lust-worthy, hey?
These are images from the People in Need campaign for Cordaid, The Catholic Organisation for Relief and Development Aid, by advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi. They remind us that for one-eighth of the price you would be paying for that handbag, you could instead be helping to buy a week’s worth of food for a woman in Kenya.

This campaign is eye opening as much as it is thought provoking, and thank you for sharing it. But, seriously, you couldn't refrain from including a link to an all-day shopping event at Melbourne Central in this copy over the word "food"?
Somewhat embarrassing.

I attended Catholic schools all the way through a terminal degree. I spent my entire professional life working against the enormous black hole sometimes called the Culture of Poverty. The handbag, sunglasses, pint of beer, and after-shave have little value. Organized religion is a cruel joke on mankind. Liquidate the fucking Vatican, cathedrals, temples, mosques and their respective vast land holdings all over the world. Set up a global trust to promote human development and redistribution of wealth. Human beings don't need charities. They need access to universal opportunity.
