NEWS: Chinese ship detects signal that could be a black box.

A Chinese ship has reportedly detected a signal in the Southern Ocean that has the same frequency to that of a black box.

At this stage, it’s not known whether or not the “pulse signal” of 37.5 kHz is coming from missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

The frequency was reportedly  picked up by a black box detector on the Haixun 01 at 25 degrees south latitude and 101 degrees east longitude.

The find comes just days before the batteries in the MH370 black box were expected to expire.

It’s also been reported that a Chinese plane had spotted numerous floating objects in the search area.

Retired Air Chief Marshall Angus Houston – who is the man leading the search effort – told the media: “I have been advised that a series of sounds have been detected by a Chinese ship in the search area. The characteristics reported are consistent with the aircraft black box.”

“A number of white objects were also sighted on the surface about 90 kilometres from the detection area. However, there is no confirmation at this stage that the signals and the objects are related to the missing aircraft,” he said.

More to come.
