Now, images from the most celebrated wedding of the 20th century have resurfaced and will be auctioned off by Remarkable Rarities Auction.
These rare, intimate moments reveal a different side to the 1981 Royal Wedding; in one lovely moment, Diana whispers encouragement to her flowergirl Clementine Hambro.

The candid photos are striking compared to the official shots. They show the family shuffling around to find their place in the photos. The Queen is caught watching the crowds in the Mall, where tens of thousands of well-wishers have gathered, on a television.
The 14-piece collection originates from a photographer's assistant, who, as a descendant of the Royals, was allowed unparalleled access to the happy couple.
The assistant, who has not been named, told RR Auctions, “I was the photographic assistant to Lord Patrick Lichfield…the only photographer allowed to take informal photographs of the royal family and their guests when they returned to Buckingham Palace…for the wedding reception."
With a starting price of $300, we might even take a shot on these original and timeless photos.
