Channel 7 is launching a new dating show. It's like The Bachelorette... But not.

Apparently contestants are going to “kiss their way to love.”

Channel 10’s The Bachelorette is wrapping up this evening, but fear not, Network Seven is going to be quick as a flash in filling the televised-love-quest gap.

They have announced a new “provocative” dating show called Kiss Bang Love “where singles skip the awkward dates and attempt to kiss their way to love.”

According to mUmBRELLA, the show is based on research that suggests a kiss can be key in determining whether or not a potential partner is worth pursuing. Kiss Bang Love will take 10 single contestants and match them each with 15 suitors.

The juicy part is, they’re not all strangers.

In Network Seven’s previous contribution to the dating show canon, Married at First Sight, the contestants seemingly embarked on the rest of their lives with a person they’d never clapped eyes on before.

But some contestants and competitors on Kiss Bang Love will be acquainted. More than that, some may even be old flames. So if cringe-worthy television is what you’re after, it sounds like Kiss Bang Love will be right up your street.

Unlike The Bachelor or Bachelorette, we won’t be waiting with baited breathe for the next national PDA. According to mUmBRELLA, Channel 7 says contestants will “skip the awkward dates and try to kiss their way to love before deciding who to take on a romantic holiday.”

Seems legit. No stilted chitchat, and no awkward small talk. Just kissing.

But we feel the contestants should probably be a little bit nervous. ‘Holidays’ can be stressful at the best of times. Can you imagine heading away with someone you’ve made-out with, but potentially never had a conversation with before?

“Will a pash lead to passion? Is one smitten after a smooch? Can a kiss from a stranger end in love?”

Time will tell.

Also in the line-up is a new crime drama staring and produced by Rebecca Gibney. The gorgeous Jess Mauboy will be playing a country pub singer in The Secret Daughter, whose encounter with a rich hotelier sets a life-changing series of events into motion. And clearly the network is abiding by the mantra, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,’ adding another musical mini-series to its repertoire in the form of a Molly Meldrum biopic starring Sam Johnson.
