In this week’s episode of Nothing To Wear podcast stylist Leonie Barlow spoke about crossbody bags being her weakness. As a crossbody fan myself, I was nodding along as she spoke, and when she made a point I hadn't even considered I fell in love with them even more.
Leone pointed out that current fashion is oversized - big shirts, boxy tees and wide-leg pants. She’s definitely right there, and they're silhouettes I love because I feel they are easy and effortless to wear. She said by adding a crossbody, the strap sits vertically from your shoulder to your hip and adds some shape and dimension to your overall outfit. And she's so right.
Beyond that, crossbody bags are just so useful. Your hands are free, they don't slip off the shoulder, and generally they're a great medium size that fit all the essentials and means you can wear them running errands and to work. Then, tuck the strap into the bag (or clip it off if the strap is detachable) and you’ve got a clutch you can wear with a dressier outfit that fits more than a lipgloss. Genius.
