Am I the only one who doesn’t look forward to the weekend?
*crickets chirp*
My weeks are hectic but rewarding. The weekend is just so plain in comparison.
You see, I’m but a humble intern here at Mamamia. And a postgraduate student the rest of the time. So apparently, I’m plagued with this condition known as wide-eyed optimism. It should subside in a month or so.
On with the show!
For those of you who have never been here before, Best and Worst is the place where we share our best and worst moments of the week. It’s a long standing tradition here at Mamamia.
Best: So many wonderful things happened this week. But by far, my greatest achievement must go to learning how to remove my gel nails at home. We all know how a professional manicure can make you feel pampered and organised. But three weeks later, what was once glossy perfection is now ragged cuticles and chipped shellac. Unfortunately, good old fashion nail polish remover ain’t gonna help your cause. But a metal nail file, some cotton wool, a roll of scotch tape and a bottle of nail polish remover will. Granted I don’t recommend this method to anyone. It took me four hours to get rid of it all!
Worst: Apart from learning that crocodile porn is a real life thing (actually maybe that should’ve been my Best.), my dad left last morning on a two-month long business trip.
The last time he did that, a year later, the family had relocated and I gained an accent. Ominous…
The thing is, now that I’m older, I feel much closer to my father than I did as a child. He was my hero as a little girl; I idolised him, but that also distanced him. Now he’s more like my unconditionally loving tangible spirit guide. I think that’s a more realistic way to look at the people you love. Hero-worship is never healthy. Point is that, in spite of our scheduled Skype catch-ups, he’ll be missed.
OMM: What does the future hold? Does he love me? Am I a closet introvert? Did James Franco really not realise that girl was 17? Is it pronounced elle-mund or ahh-mund? What are new offices going to be like? Will I ever pass me P’s? How I’m going to carry all that stuff home in my tiny purse? Questions mostly. Rhetorical mostly.
Anyhoo that’s my week in a nutshell. Now you go! *digs into popcorn*

Hey Shami - 100% acetone (sold at your hardware) cotton wool balls & kitchen alfoil - 10 mins max soak & it should easily push off CND shellac - if your nail tec is using a different product (not CND) it is sometimes is a little stickier but this removal still works. Oil your nails immediately after you remove the polish :-)
I know I'm a bit late but I have a good excuse...
BEST: Welcoming my baby girl into the world and seeing my first baby girl fall in love with her little sister. Having the love and support of my husband before, during and after labour and delivery. Knowing my family is now complete!
WORST: I have none. I am disgustingly loved up.
Ah, congratulations!!!! Well done to you!!! How did everything go? So glad to hear!
Hurray! So happy for you - for all of you! Congratulations.
Awesome news. Congratulations on your new baby girl.
Did she end up being late as predicted?
Congrats, NewMamma!!!!!!!!! :))
