It’s coming down to crunch time for Bec Judd. She’s now officially on maternity leave and preparing for two new arrivals into the Judd family.
Considering they could be coming as early as next week, she’s doing everything she can now to ensure the life of future-mother-of-two-newborns Bec is as smooth sailing as possible. Well, as ‘smooth sailing’ as those first few days with any new baby (or babies) can be.
One of those preparations? Her hair.
The other week Judd visited UVA salon to get her roots lifted and lightened as well as a toner put in, before following it up yesterday for her final pre-giving birth hair treatment.
“I’m almost 26 weeks pregnant with my twins and because I’ve been told to expect them anywhere between 28 and 34 weeks, so they could come in two weeks, so I thought I gotta get this hair sorted,” Judd told Mamamia last week.
“I’m going to quickly pop in [to the salon] next week because I’m on maternity leave and get my foils done for spring into summer because I do not know when I’m going to get in there next.”
Now that’s forward thinking.
The lighter look and strategic foils and highlights looks similar to ‘lived-in hair’, a natural-looking highlighting technique that minimises the appearance of regrowth allowing longer between visits.
Watch: We talk to Bec Judd about beauty, skincare and babies. Post continues after video.
“It’s the long term beauty treatment that will see me through the first horrific new born days which I don’t like,” Judd joked.
Already a mother to Oscar, five, and Billie, two, Judd also shared with Mamamia some other quick beauty tips for time-poor new mums.
“It’s so hard as a new mum. Who has got the time, really?” she said. (Post continues after gallery.)

“I’d say look after your skin, cleanse well and use your serum. Concealer, eyebrows, bronzer and a bit of mascara is all you need.
“If you’re feeling down or you need to nip out and you’re feeling housebound – I’ve been there with newborns – at least if you’re feeling a little bit brighter, if you catch yourself in the mirror you can go ‘Ooh, I’m semi-fresh’. It helps with your confidence a bit.”

Oh here we go with the weird Bec Judd fan-girl gushing MM, and over a clearly sponsored post too.
Spectacular hair change? It's a bit lighter but very nearly the same as when she walked in. Would hate to think of the cost for so subtle a change.
I love the constant reminders she has been putting out there about "they could come any day, they could come in in two weeks"
More like, they will come in two weeks after the scheduled c-section. The more you say it, the more staged it all appears to be. Not fooling anyone.
I'm pretty sure new mums don't "need" any make up. Baby certainly doesn't care. What they "need" is support and time to adjust to being a mum and not pressure about how they look.
Unless you are prone to selfies, then your appearance matters. Ahhhh I remember the good old days when we were make up free, hair pulled back and enjoying our bubs.
