'I've sworn by it for decades.' 18 women over 50 on their all-time favourite beauty product.

It's a jungle out there in the beauty realm.

For women over 50, many say it's even more challenging — trying to find products perfect for their skin and texture, especially when their skin has changed since the last round of beauty shopping.

Watch: You Beauty Q&A with Leigh Campbell and Kelly McCarren. Post continues below.

Just to add to the confusion, more often than not, beauty products rely on marketing and advertising images of women decades younger than their actual customers.

So we've decided to dodge the confusion and ask fabulous beauty experts in their 50s or over to share the tricks of the trade, along with the holy grail beauty product they can't live without in this chapter of their lives.

So to not gatekeep on the very best products, 18 women over 50 shared with Mamamia what their favourite beauty item is — and why.

Lisa: CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser 236ml, $11.99.

"I love my hydrating cleanser from CeraVe. It's a little gem and I will definitely be re-purchasing."

Natalie: L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler 1.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Anti-Wrinkle Serum 30ml, $49.99.

"My favourite product is a Mamamia Out Loud recommendation! It's the L'Oreal Hyaluronic Acid, and I must be on about my 10th bottle by now — it's the bomb."

Della: Trinny London BFF Cream $75, and Trinny London Tinted Serum BFF De-Stress $75.

"Trinny London make-up and skincare all the way for me. It's all I use now. In particular, the BFF cream and DeStress serum foundation are my go-to products."

Sabrina: Ponds Cold Cream Cleanser 269g, $7.99.

"My 86-year-old mother and I have used this cold cream since I was a little girl. It's cheap as chips, really cleanses the skin but doesn't leave it feeling stripped — and it smells nice."

Rebecca: Paula's Choice Skincare Essential Glow Moisturizer SPF 15, $39.

"I always wear sunscreen. I'm a fan of Paula's Choice in general, and I use their sunscreen product."

Lisa: ELES Luminous CC Cream 20, $61.

"CC cream! It's the difference between looking like you slept well and ate all your vegetables when you actually stayed up watching Netflix and eating chips. It's lightweight. My squished almost-finished tube is about to be cut open with scissors so I can scrape the last bit out. There isn't another CC in the world that equals it."

Tanhya: Eva Naturals Vitamin C Plus Serum, $14.99.

"Eva Naturals is my savey option – I just love using vitamin C regularly."

Jane: MCoBeauty Xtendlash, $16.80.

"I've realised that simple is best. I always wear mascara now, a sunscreen and some moisturiser. I swear by the MCoBeauty mascara."

Frieda: AG Hair Colour Care Sterling Silver Toning Shampoo 1L, currently $39.95, and AG Hair Colour Care Sterling Silver Toning Conditioner 1L, currently $39.95.

"The shampoo and conditioner I recommend is the AG Sterling Silver. They are amazing at keeping my grey hair pristine. I've pretty much tried everything recommended for grey hair (from the cheap to the $$$, and it's the best!)."

Penny: Dermalogica Age Smart Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50 50mL, $114.70.

"I have used this every single day for at least 10 years."

Lesley: Olay Moisturising Cream 100g, $13.49.

"There are two main products I use — prescription retinoids and the Olay moisturising cream. I'm 65 now and I love the Olay cream so much, it's just the old basic pink one, but it works great. And it's often half-price on special!"

Jacinda: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask 20g, $31.

"I've found that as I get older my lips are struggling to get moisture in them. But when I saw this product recommended in the You Beauty Facebook group, I decided to give it a go. And wow. The hydration and feel is beautiful."

Adele: Thin Lizzy 6in1 Professional Face Powder $29.

"I love the Thin Lizzy 6-in-1 because it is so easy and simple. When I was in my 30s, I didn't have time to waste anymore. I needed a quick makeup routine that made me look put together but also didn't take forever. I found Thin Lizzy and I really love it. All these years later, I still use it. It was my daughter's first makeup product ever as well, and she loves how nostalgic it is for her. Also, that brush that comes with it is great quality."

Jiveeta: Aveeno Daily Moisturising Fragrance-Free Body Lotion 1L, $18.99.

"It's the cheapest bottle of quality product. I use it all over my body and it keeps the skin moisturised but sinks in quickly so you don't feel sticky. I've used it for decades."

Leisa: Trinny London Lash2Brow Mascara and Brow Gel, $50.

"This is the number one product I have in my bag at all times. When Trinny London came to Australia, I was very excited. This eyebrow and eyelash product has been the best. One side of the wand is for eyebrows, the other is for eyelashes. It works so well and I've recently had lots of compliments!"

Joanne: The Jojoba Company Australian Jojoba 85ml, $33.95.

"Jojoba has been a life changer. Adding an oil to my skin seemed so odd at first —but I'm a devotee now."

LeeAnn: SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum 30ml, $236.

"After a week my skin was visibly brighter, my pigmentation started to fade and my friends complimented me on the glow. I feel more confident with my appearance with this product."

Alicia: Medik8 Liquid Peptides Drone-Targeted Peptide Complex 30ml, $108.

"The last seven years of Peri and menopause meant perioral dermatitis for me. I have dry skin, but heavy products were lethal for my skin. This little serum has saved me! Plus without sounding too Gwynny, taking spirulina powder and lots of water always helps the complexion too."
