Swan River body in suitcase: Annabelle Chen found with tiles matched to former home.

By David Weber

Police are investigating whether tiles found in a suitcase in Perth’s Swan River along with the body of Annabelle Chen are the same as those in her former home.

Ms Chen’s body was discovered after a local fisherman pulled the suitcase aboard his boat in East Fremantle in July.

Police confirmed her identity earlier this week after a long-running investigation.

Ms Chen, who lived in Meath Mews in Mosman Park, was found half-naked and had suffered significant injuries.

Police also found green ceramic tiles with a flower pattern inside the suitcase, while similar tiles were later discovered in the river near the Fremantle Traffic Bridge.

The Post newspaper has reported the tiles match some found in the bathroom of a home Ms Chen previously owned in Wellington Street in Mosman Park.

Ms Chen lived at the property for a brief period.

Police said the information in the newspaper was one of many lines of inquiry detectives were looking at.

Ms Chen was last seen at her home on June 30 by her daughter, however police have said it was not uncommon for her not to see relatives for months at a time.
