Adele is back.
All it took for Adele to become ubiquitous was two albums brimming with epic, soul-wrenching heartbreak.
Her first two albums were written with the fuel of lost love and teenage angst behind them — and we loved them.
We loved them so much, Adele is now worth $100million. That’s a lot of snot-crying to Someone Like You.
Over the weekend Adele teased fans in the UK with a snippet of a brand-new song during The X-Factor. An album is forthcoming.
This is big, huge, massive news. Adele hasn’t released an album since 2011’s 21, which you might have heard of — it sold 30 million copies.
Adele’s been on hiatus since then. Not because of any problems — although she did have some vocal cord issues for a while.
But no, Adele’s been quiet on the music-front because she’s been busy on the home-front. She had a baby with entrepreneur Simon Konecki. Little Angelo was born in 2012.
The family live together in the idyllic English countryside in Surrey, in a 10-bedroom mansion with 25 acres of lush green lawn and gardens. There are pools, tennis courts, and a big kitchen in which she bakes cupcakes.
Adele has a net worth of more than $100 million.
You could say things are very sweet for Adele Adkins right now. Which begs the question: what the hell is her next album going to be about?
Being unable to find a good gardener? Her oven on the fritz when she’s trying to bake? Finding it difficult to polish her MBE?
When the queen of heartache couples up, has a kid and settles down into domestic bliss, where does she get her inspiration from?
In the teaser clip, Adele’s unmistakeable voice sings the lyrics, “Hello/ it’s me/ I was wondering if after all these years you’d like to meet/ to go over everything/ they say that time’s supposed to heal ya but I ain’t done much healing”, the words appearing against a black background.

According to The Sun, the new song is a sequel to, yes, Someone Like You.

Only time will tell whether this album will bring more of the Adele we know and love.
Or if she’s decided she’s over angst and is moving into bubblegum pop.
