Adam Garcia opens up about his wife's traumatic birth.

Actor Adam Garcia, 41, is officially a dad.

But the Australian star has revealed the arrival of his daughter, named Arya Storm Diana Garcia, wasn’t as simple as he would have hoped.

Garcia told New Idea that Arya's heart beat began to slow during birth before stopping, as a result of the umbilical chord being wrapped around her shoulders.

‘Even those with no medical knowledge, like me, have watched enough television to know that if a baby’s heart stops – if only for 30 seconds or so – it’s not good,' he told the publication.

Thankfully though, Arya was able to be delivered safely.

'We were ready for surgery, but suddenly our doctor saw the baby’s head was crowning and told Nathalia to push. She did it maybe five or six times, and out Arya came,' Garcia said.

Garcia married his wife and now mother, Nathalia, 30, in March of this year.
