Sometimes, I am too close to this website. Like now, for example. For weeks - months actually - I've been wracking my brain to come up with a tagline for Mamamia. A few words that explain exactly what this website IS.

If you clicked on mamamia.com.au for the first time and didn't know what the site was about, what short sentence or few words would tell you?  Sony have generously given me this free just released W series Cyber-shot digital camera to give away to the Mamamia reader who comes up with the best tagline.  More details about the camera and how you can get your hands on it, after the jump......

New Mamamia website.....the countdown begins

Behind the scenes at Mamamia, we're working feverishly on a rebuild of this site with all sorts of fun and fancy new bits and pieces. I'm excited. Very. Some of these are in response to requests from you and some are just things I've wanted to do for a long time. Remember when I asked for your feedback? Every comment was gratefully received and helped us make some tweaks to functionality and implement some new features. I hope you're going to like it. After the jump, a quick snapshot preview of how the new homepage will look....and some more details about new and improved features. We're hoping to go live in the next couple of weeks....

26 year old Nick Vujicic was born without arms or legs but he still lives an extraordinarily active life. After the jump, an amazing clip of Nick that is pretty inspiring. Especially for those of us - ahem - inclined to have the odd whinge about being to fat/thin/saggy/old/whatever. (warning: if you're not a fan of Jesus Christ, you might want to listen with the sound off because Nick is fairly keen on Jesus).

Well worth watching quickly....brilliant stuff......

I know I'm 24hrs late with this post but yesterday I was distracted by....other things. Like chairing an all-day meeting of the National Body Image Advisory Group.

How timely then, that I'd spent part of the previous night watching the last half hour of the Top Model final, just in time to see size 10 Tahnee announced as the winner of the reality-show-meets-model-contest. With a bloody nose. Loved that....

Mitchell Johnson's mother seems to be confusing herself with his girlfriend, Jessica Bratich.

 
The happy couple in this picture are Australian cricketer Mitchell Johnson and his girlfriend, karate champion Jessica Bratich. Not pictured, is Mitchell's mother. And evidently, she would like to be in this photo, sandwiched riiiight in the middle of her son and his girlfriend. In an interview with the Herald Sun that she will no doubt come to regret immediately, Vikki Harber says her son has been 'stolen' from her by Jessica and slams Cricket Australia for flying over 'bitchy' girlfriends more interested in self-promotion than supporting their partners. Yikes.......

I could watch this all day.

Ever since the photo in the paper the goes with my column changed a few weeks ago and you can see that I have feet as well as a head, a number of people have asked about the brown boots I'm wearing (Veronique Branquinho from Belinda about four years ago when I was trying to be J-Lo).
