Did you know booze in Parliament house is free? Probably why Lerhmann claimed he took Miss Higgens there to drink whisky. This worries me much more than a politician's wife wearing a designer dress. If she wore something from Vinnies people would complain about that.

She is a professional with her own income  and a great dress so if that is what she wants to spend her money on good luck to her. The shop assistants earn a wage this way as well as everyone else working for the company. I am sure if she likes the dress it will worn many times

Instead of insulting him with comments like tacky just book in with a counsellor to talk about your different attitudes and expectations around money. Now you are married your money is legally owned by both of you. The mistake he made was in not discussing it with you before getting the ring.

Love this article. It is so true that our sense of place and personal history is full of joy and sadness when we have to let it go. Great that you can support your Mum and Dad through this change.

Good on you for getting help to realise this and to get out.  Personally the weight gain comment at the wedding would have had me breaking up with him as it was so self centred and irrelevant to celebrating someone else's joy. Besides that if someone cannot love you regardless of physical changes we all go through, that person is either an idiot or unhinged. As your partner turned out to be.

@hopey  There is a very good article by an Australian police office who has explained that certain offences are not legally classified as meeting the criteria for not granting bail. I think it was on the ABC site. His strongly argued point was that this law has to be changed. One of the issues is the presumption of innocence. Being charged with two offences related to the same victim, one of assault and of breaching the AVO needs to be recognised as sufficient to consider refusing bail.

@anonymous Snorks comment was, I believe, informative not merely running interference. Sharing an opinion including disagreeing is part of conversation. I don't always agree with snork's views but I would always support the right of someone to have an opinion and express it.  Including yours.

Legally a married couple share all their wealth. Refusing to pay your children's medical bills or question their hearing quality is child abuse. You can contact banks to set up your own account Westpac and others have discreet support services for partners in your situation.

When my two kids were kids (now young adults) family close friends and the children's friends were invited. Activities which went well were deconate your own cupcake - coloured icing and packets of lollies, sprinkles from. Woolies and kids own games in the backyard. I am sure plenty of families still do similar without giving a stuff about what those on tik tok would think.

keen teacher May 3, 2024

The only thing I find strange about this is the bossy tone. However er she is expressing a plan on tiktok so maybe she will tell her guests in a more friendly way. As her two birthday parties previously were different t I guess she is trying g to change guests expe tations. I do find the comment I am picky so I don't want shit gifts for my child offensive.

Good on you for writing this article. I am lucky to be a parent but it is hard yakka at times. I had a woman I have never met before say to me "Is the another one In there?" pointing to my stomach,  and my two very young children with a look of disgust in her face..I was so shocked I just said no. She walked off. I just told my husband insanity comes in all shapes and sizes. We got on with the grocery shopping.

Jade you are a beautiful inspiration to us all. I think you are so wise you e joy movement at any size and to care for yourself. We women should follow your lead regardless of our body types.

Please get help. Call the police when he hits you. It is a crime. You don't love this man- this is who he really is. The loving man isn't coming back because the never really existed. Tell your close friends and family what is going on even if you can't handle calling the police yet  Call Life Line or other services for support. I understand leaving would be a huge change you may not be ready for yet. But please keep taking small steps like writing this to help you build confidence and resources to get out. If you cannot do it for yourself do it for your kids

Love this article. She has great attitudes to herself and dressing. I like that fact that she is focussed on her needs and desires not just being paid by a small number of brands. A genuinely helpful blog I now want to read.

I love the inclusivity of this. It is nice to see Mamamia thinking about all women These dresses are all beautiful as well as modest and would look great on any woman who chose to wear them.  Now how about fashion for women with disabilities or medical situations which mean certain styles of dressing wouldn't work for them?  These dresses would be great for anyone with skin cancer risks as well for example.

Your photos are deceiving because the lighting is darker in the before. Frankly I see little improvement or change except brighter lighting on your face. However you wrote article well with a lot of detail about what actually happens and the risks.

Good on you for going to the tribunal. I hope you succeed. More renters need to do this to raise awareness of the inadequacy of laws around renting. Snorks questions are fair- if it is just being raised to market rent I assume evidence will be provided to the tribunal.
Good luck!

keen teacher March 11, 2024

@snorks , that is what he alleges. Are their any other witnesses to the kids?trespassing? If he was that worried why hasn't he reported the problem before to the police? Or asked the kids who their parents are and then had a word? He is not even the owner if the property. I would be more worried about the kids drowning due to no supervision.

keen teacher March 11, 2024

@draculasgirlfriend  yes but that doesn't mean the conclusion should be drawn that insulting someone by including a reference to skin colour or ethnic group is OKfor ANYONE. I get why she would do it. I get that taking her to court seems like an over reaction. If I were living in Japan again and some one called me gaijin ( foreigner) bastard I would be pretty upset at their racism. If they just called me bastard I would want to know what I had done wrong and be willing to make amends.
