Okay, Zoe Saldana is officially our favourite mum.

And over 27,000 parents agree.

Back in November last year, actress Zoe Saldana, 36, gave birth to twin boys, Bowie and Cy, with husband Marco Perego.

It was only recently that she stepped out on the red carpet looking AMAZING. Many people slot her into the category of: celebrity mum loses weight super quickly and easily.

But that isn't the case. Saldana has shared both her pregnancy struggles and how she worked damn hard to get her pre-baby body back...for herself.

In a Facebook post that is gaining momentum, so far over 27,000 fans have liked it, Saldana talks about the realities of dropping the pregnancy weight.

She starts,

"As you all know, we welcomed twin boys last November. Yes, by far, the most amazing experience of my life, but also a very challenging experience when it pertains to my body. I'm sure moms across the world (and dads sometimes) can identify with what I'm about to say.

Your body changes dramatically, inside and out. You grow in places you never knew you could, and you are tired beyond belief. In some cases more than others, your body experiences a kind of trauma through childbirth that is difficult to explain unless you've had that experience. My case was like that, everything from my thyroid to my platelets crashed. Thank God, we are all doing great now, but my body was really bent out of shape after the boys were born.

Bouncing back feels impossible, but I know it is important as a woman, and now a mommy, to not give up. I am determined to get my energy back and find balance for my body before these little guys start walking, and before I go back to work..... my clock is ticking!"

Saldana posted the image with her working out and continues to talk about how we should all be a little more honest and a little more supportive of mums...

2 months ago I started my journey, and its been REAL - I'm not gonna lie - it is slow.... painful... and frustrating. But it is worth it.
And that is why I'm here... I know many of you have gone through this or are going through it as we speak. Let's do it together. Let's talk about it, hear each other out, and seek advice when we need it.

I have my friend of many years and trainer, Steve Moyer that will be guiding me and sometimes training me for the next 2 months before I go back to work. I will be sharing with you what I do, what I eat and how I feel about it in hopes that it will be of any help to you.

I started in January with Moyer. I was 160lbs - 72 kgs - (at the peak of my pregnancy I reached 185lbs - 83kgs). I had no flexibility, weak joints, and exercising was painful. We started with just walking, I think I only walked that first month. I did however change the way I ate. I began to make better choices with my food.

Moyer was instrumental at this point. He gave me great tips of what to eat, how much water to drink, he even gave me some recipes of his own sometimes. It was important for me to learn this so I can do it on my own if I have to. I want to prove to myself that if I have the right determination I can do anything.

The post has attracted many comments from her fans, thanking her for her honesty:

"Thank you for sharing and keeping it real as to how hard it is to lose weight after childbirth."

"Thank you for sharing. This is a journey many new mothers go through but hide behind closed doors, feeling ashamed of not having that 'spunk' before getting pregnant. I admire the fact you are sharing your vulnerability with us, your fans, sharing that we are all human, women and share similar struggles."

"I really didn't think it was possible to love you anymore. I was wrong."

"Zoe you make so many great points! I am a father of three daughters and my wife too had to find/ regain that balance."

And many also made sure that Saldana didn't feel too much of the pressure many new mums feel in getting their pre-baby body back too soon:

"While I think it's great to try and get back into shape and realise your pre-pregnancy weight or close to it. Enjoy the time with your babies. The pressure is greater when you're in the public eye but time flies by so enjoy them as it goes by fast."

"Just relax and let nature do its work. You are adding an enormous amount of stress to your post baby situation. Stay positive!"

And Saldana finished the post off in ways most new mums do...

"Crap, boys are up from their naps! Gotta go!"
