Zoe Saldana on her 'gun and panties' story fighting against sexism.

Zoe Saldana, 37 is an A List Hollywood actress who is nailing her career.

Saldana’s big break came in 2009 when she starred in the blockbuster movie, Avatar. But before her career hit it’s peak, the actress had one of the most slap in the face moments of her career.

“That story is true,” she told philly.com.

She's tougher than the story though. Image via @zoesaldana Instagram.

"A producer once told me he hired me for the way I held a gun while wearing panties, not for my opinions," she continued.

And while the head strong actress has pushed through that to work alongside female directors like Maya Forbes in Infinitely Polar Bear - who has a lot more respect for women - she wants to use it as a message for young girls.

"I wish I'd recorded it, so I could play it for every girl in elementary school and tell them never to let anybody treat them that way," she told philly.com.

Saldana has also been told to put on weight for her recent role in Infinitely Polar Bear - which is kind of ironic.

"[Forbes] wanted me to gain weight. I guess she wanted me to look more like a mother," Saldana told the Philadelphia publication.

She laughs about it because she became a mother (to twins) late last year - so that's where the irony is.

But under her laugh is a big concern for the way women's body are objectified in Hollywood, and she admits that no matter what it shouldn't come down to the size of a person - but their talent.

"I don't think the essence of a person comes down to the girth of that person," she told philly.com.

Zoe Saldana and her husband, artist Marco Perego welcomed their twins, Cy and Bowie in November last year. But the first photos of their cute duo wasn't posted until February this year.

She captioned the first photo with, "It's a #family affair! #Twins #Fullhouse."

It's an important message that we all need to share to girls and women worldwide. You should not be judged on your girth, height, weight or race.

And you should never be accepted for something because of the way you look, instead of for your opinion and intelligence.

Let's spread the message for Saldana (even if she didn't get the recording).

What message would you send to young girls about self worth?
