Wedding proposals are officially out of control.
Get this. In the latest episode of Ridiculous Public Wedding Proposals that should only exist in movies directed by Steven Spielberg-Richard Curtis hybrids, a Russian man faked his own death before springing to life and proposing to his (grieving) girlfriend.
SURPRISE!!!
Alexey Bykov hired a stuntman, a makeup artist and a filmmaker, then faked his death in a car crash. He said he did it because he “ wanted her to realise how empty her life would be without me and how life would have no meaning without me.”
UK press reports:
The 30-year-old then planned for girlfriend Irena Kolokov to meet him at the crash site so she would be convinced he was dead.
Irena said: “We’d arranged to meet at a certain place but when I arrived there were mangled cars everywhere, ambulances, smoke, and carnage.”
“Then when I saw Alexey covered in blood lying in the road, a paramedic told me he was dead and I just broke down in tears.”
But then “dead” Alexey climbed to his feet and proposed to Irena – still covered in fake blood.
His girlfriend was a little more forgiving than we’d be. After the proposal – which she accepted FYI – she said: “I was so cross … I almost killed him again, but for real this time.”
And here we were thinking a public rendition of Bruno Mars’ engagement anthem was the ultimate sign of love….

Worst proposal I ever saw was while I was sitting in a car at a petrol station – a man got down on one knee in the petrol station ‘restaurant’ and from what I could see it wasn’t well received! There were tears and not the good kind.
Best proposal was my own – very private, just the two of us, in a beautiful outdoor setting. Very emotional and sweet without any fuss or hype. Keeping it a secret for a few days until we could see family was torture though!
Oh, I love sharing my proposal story!
Friday morning I wake up to discover the alarm hasn't gone off and we are late for work. As I jump out of bed shouting at Mr Sunshine to wake up, he pulls me back into bed and tells me we are not going to work today, that he has organised a day off with my boss.
He then tells me to pack an overnight bag.
Fast forward through a day of visits to my favourite park and cafe's, we are having candlelight dinner on the deck of a B&B, dancing under the stars.
Fast forward to 3am and NOW the alarm goes off....because we are going hot air ballooning!
Towards the end of the balloon ride as we are skimming the fields Mr Sunshine pulls a ring out of the camera case and proposes. Cue yes, cheers, tears ect.
....But its not over yet!!!
After champagne brekkie we prepare to drive home and he has a wedding magazine in the car for the drive! and a bag of my favourite lollies.
But wait there is more!
On the way home he detours to the park where we had our first date... to find all my family there having a picnic! Cue more cheers, tears ect.
Ok, thats it, you can stop reading now.
My husband proposed to me, in a horse-drawn carriage on a magical snowy day in March thirty years ago in Chamonix. The carriage driver had a wonderful singing voice and looked and sounded like a slightly smaller version of Luciano Pavarotti. We snuggled under the furs in the carriage enjoying the stunning setting and when my husband's proposal finally came, I was completely overwhelmed. He said later that he was taking no chances on me refusing, but I made him wait until the following morning for my answer. Major wedding anniversary coming up.
