Mamamia calls on federal politicians to withdraw from World Congress of Families conference.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mamamia calls on Liberal politicians to withdraw from the World Congress of Families conference in Melbourne on 30th August, 2014.

The World Conference of Families promote hateful and false information about single parents, contraception, abortions, and LGBTQI people. We believe any politician who attends or presents at that conference tacitly condones those beliefs — and we find that inexcusable.

Senator Eric Abetz appeared on Channel 10’s The Project last night, defending the beliefs of an organisation called The World Congress of Families.

Specifically, he linked abortion to breast cancer, citing studies from the 1950s that have since been discredited by every reputable scientist.

Mamamia publisher Mia Freedman renews our call for federal politicians to withdraw from the World Congress of Families conference being held in Melbourne on 30th August.

Here are some of the reprehensible views of the WCF: That abortion, contraception, divorce, single parents, and homosexual sex cause poverty, incest, human trafficking, child abuse, and cancer.

We direct people to sign the change.org petition to ask MP Kevin Andrews, Cory Bernardi, Bernie Finn, Robert Clark, and Eric Abetz to withdraw from the WCF conference.
