"Repugnant" woman who pleaded guilty to having sex with her dog walks free from court.

A Queensland woman convicted of engaging in sex acts with her dog has avoided prison, despite the crime being slammed by the judge as “repugnant” and “completely against the order of nature”.

Jenna Driscoll was yesterday granted two-and-a-half-years probation by Brisbane District Court following a conviction for three counts of bestiality, video of which was discovered by police during a 2014 drug investigation, reports AAP.

The court earlier heard the 27-year-old had committed the acts on a pet pit bull in an attempt to arouse her partner.

Driscoll was also yesterday sentenced for drug trafficking, for which she was handed an entirely suspended two-and-a-half-year jail term.

In sentencing Driscoll, Judge Terry Martin noted Driscoll had told her psychologist, “This has ruined my life, I very much regret what I have done”, reports AAP.

However, he gave little weight to her barrister’s claims that the resulting public humiliation ought to be taken into consideration.

“The adverse publicity is a direct consequence of your unlawful conduct, and you can hardly be heard to complain about that,” Judge Martin said.

Prior to sentencing, the court heard that Driscoll had a troubled youth, having run away from home at the age of 16, began a relationship with a man 12 years her senior and begun smoking cannabis two years later.

She then began dealing drugs when the relationship failed.

During her probationary period, Driscoll must undergo psychological and psychiatric treatment and is prohibited from leaving the state without permission.
