Police said the 27-year-old Manoora man and the woman, who were known to each other, argued outside a home in the Cairns suburb of White Rock early in the morning of New Year’s Day.
The man is then alleged to have gotten into a car and struck her in the driveway as he drove away.
She suffered critical injuries and died in Cairns Base Hospital.
The man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and unlicensed driving.
He is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
