1. The haunting details we’re learning about the woman who gave birth in a vegetative state.
When a woman in a vegetative state at a US hospital gave birth in late December, it became apparent a crime had been committed.
Now, reports have emerged that the 29-year-old Native American woman, who had no signs of awareness for the past 14 years, was sexually assaulted “several times” while at the Hacienda HealthCare facility in Arizona.
During an on-air report, a CBS journalist said they had “learned she was raped several times”.
Male staff members at the facility have been asked to provide DNA samples as part of their investigations to determine who impregnated the woman, CBS 5 reported.
A spokesperson for Hacienda said the company was cooperating fully to “bring this police investigation to a quick conclusion”.
On Monday the CEO of the facility, Bill Timmons, announced his resignation – it was unanimously accepted by the facility’s board of directors.
He resigned after reports emerged the woman had given birth on December 29 and that staff were unaware she was pregnant.
A woman who worked at the facility told CBS 5 she believes the baby boy is alive and healthy.

I hope they let that 18 yo girl into Australia. Let her make a go of it here, and be a voice for the oppressed women in Saudi Arabia who want freedom of movement and control over their own lives.
God it makes me angry to hear that Australia is considering the asylum request of that young woman. What about those poor people stuck in detention? Is it because they came by boat instead of plane? Is it because they aren't a good enough PR story? Not young and pretty enough? It is infuriating me.
The girl was smart to publicly renounce Islam as apostasy attracts the death penalty (or a protracted jail term) in Saudi Arabia. Until you have experienced what it is like for women living in Saudi Arabia, it is easy to lack empathy for her plight.
I believe that the young lady is in immediate danger. She goes back, she dies or the very least, severely punished. You don't think her family and Saudi Arabia will let her off lightly after all this do you?
Absolutely I have no problem with her being declared a refugee and being given asylum. So why is she allowed to be settled here and others are flat out refused.
I dont lack sympathy for her plight. I genuinely hope she gets settled here. Its not about her its about the others. The refugees rotting and going insane in detention because they didn't have particular aspects about their story that makes it so palatable to the Australian public.
