Day 6 of searching for 3-year-old William Tyrell. Have you seen him?

Update 22/9:

Police have announced that they are now stopping the search for missing three-year-old boy William Tyrell.

Instead, they will investigate possible “human intervention” related to William’s disappearance.

Today is the 10th day he has been missing.

A community meeting yesterday confirmed that SES and police will scale back the search, with police saying they will be “focusing on examining the many pieces of information received concerning William’s unexplained disappearance.”

Over the weekend William’s family released this letter to thank those involved in his search.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Update:

Medical experts have told police that if William Tyrell did wander into nearby bushland, he would not have survived.

The three-year-old went missing from outside his grandmother’s house in Kendall, on New South Wales’ mid-north coast, on the morning of September 12.

“The experts cannot substantiate that survival in the bush would be there at this point in time,” Superintendent Paul Fehon said, as reported by ABC News.

Superintendent Fehon added there was still no solid evidence William had wandered into the bush — although the house where the little boy was last seen is across the road from the Kendall State Forest.

While police are treating the investigation as a search for a missing child, the ABC reports authorities have not ruled out the possibility of abduction, and the sex crimes squad, has been brought in to investigate. 

Police have also released further photographs of the little boy — dressed in some of his favourite superhero costumes — in the hope it will help members of the public to identify him.

William has been described as being of Caucasian appearance, with dark hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a ‘spiderman’ suit. Anyone with information is urged to call Triple Zero immediately. 

Previously, Mamamia wrote: It took just five minutes for William Tyrell to go missing. He was playing with his sister in the front garden of his grandparents home. The three-year old was dressed as Spiderman. It was 10.30am. There was no reason to believe he wasn’t safe. And yet four days later his frantic family are left distraught as police say there is no sign of the little boy. The home is in a quiet street, next to dense bushland in Kendall, south of Port Macquarie in NSW. William was left alone for no more than 5 minutes. But he has now been missing for four days and rescuers and police have expressed grave concerns for his welfare. PolAir, hundreds of police, SES, surf lifesavers, the dog squad and mounted police as well as volunteers have been searching for William since the alert was raised on Friday afternoon. Inspector Kim Fehon said yesterday that the search was in a critical phase.

“We’re now in the third full day of the search for a three-year-old boy who has had no food and unless he’s found water, no water, so it is likely that he has in a poor state of health and we need to find him today,” she said. The three-year old from Kendall has asthma which is exasperated by stress – this brings even greater concern for police. In a distressing press conference Police yesterday said that they could not rule out abduction. “We are looking into other scenarios and that’s why we’ve got investigators working on that today,” Inspector Kim Fehon said. The image released of William – playing happily in his Spiderman suit was taken shortly before he went missing. Fairfax Media report that a family friend said yesterday his parents were desperate to have him back. “William is a much-loved and cherished little boy,” the woman who said her name was Nicole told media. “The family are desperate to have him home, and if anyone knows anything please contact police.”

As day three of the search led to no clues police admitted that the timing was getting even more desperate for his survival. “As time passes that window does diminish, Superintendent Paul Fehon said. Inspector Fehon said searchers were expecting him to be weak, and curled up after days of no food or water. “I have briefed all the search teams that they are looking for a small boy who is likely to be curled up and may be covered and have found somewhere to hide,” she said. “We need to make sure we have covered every blade of grass within that area.” “At this time we are hoping he is still in a position to respond to being called out to.” A local resident out searching called for the public not to judge the family of William. Noleen Campbell told the ABC that the Tyrell family had the local community’s support. “I think they probably feel a lot of guilt and they shouldn’t feel any guilt at all because we are all parents and things happen and people shouldn’t be judging them,” she said.

The thick scrub nearby is filled with waterways which pose a treacherous threat for the little boy – local pools and dams have been searched. Thankfully, in one respect – with no results. Local resident Brad Hinder, who was assisting the search told the ABC the bush was so thick it would be hard to find William if he had gone into shock. “It’s treacherous, you couldn’t get much worse bush for a young three-year-old.” The search teams continue scoring every centimeter of the local area determined to bring William – the little Spiderman – back home to his family.
