Russell Brand's wife is standing by him. Here's what we know about her.

This week Russell Brand is facing accusations of rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse over a seven-year period.

The comedian turned wellness 'guru' denies the allegations, revealed in a joint investigation by the Sunday Times, the Times and Channel 4's Dispatches, and says, despite his reputation as a womaniser over the years, his relationships have been "always consensual".

Known best for his marriage to singer Katy Perry - which he infamously ended by text in 2011, Brand has since remarried, in what is a much more low key union. Here's what we know. 

Who is Russell Brand's wife?

Laura Gallacher is a 36-year-old author and illustrator who grew up in one of the UK's most exclusive areas in Wentworth Estate, Surrey. Even prior to meeting Brand, she was no stranger to rubbing shoulders with society's elite. Her father is Scottish Golfer Bernard Gallacher OBE and her sister is Kirsty Gallacher, a notable television and radio presenter.

In 2020, Gallacher released her first children's book called The Joy Journal, which promotes mindfulness through a series of craft activities. Since then she has released another book titled, Slow Down and Be Here Now.

As well as her burgeoning career as a children's writer, Gallacher and her husband Brand have launched The Stay Free Foundation which is an organisation aimed at helping those with addiction issues.

How did Russell Brand and Laura Gallacher meet?

Brand and Gallacher first met back in 2007 when he was 30-years-old and she was 19-years-old. After being introduced by her sister Kirsty, the pair hit it off and began dating before they parted ways due to his disinterest in monogamy.

In 2010 Brand married American pop singer, Katy Perry, their relationship ending just 14 months later. In the wake of his break-up Brand reconnected with Gallacher in 2015 after a chance encounter on the day her ex-boyfriend moved out of their shared flat.

"I was heartbroken, with mascara running down my face," she told Grazia in an interview. "A friend dragged me out on a walk to the canal in East London, where I'd never been in my life, and as we came on to the footpath Russell was standing there, like he'd organised it."

After things didn't pan out so well the first time they dated, Gallacher decided to give it another shot with Brand. "I remember him saying, 'I think I want a quiet life and a family,' and it was exactly what I wanted. So, then it was about seeing if we could build a foundation to make that happen," she said in an interview with You. 

When did they get married?

Just one year after they got back together, Brand proposed. In August 2017, they gathered before an intimate crowd of family and friends and said 'I do' in a small church in Henley-On-Thames, a town in Oxfordshire. The nuptials were a far cry from the celebration of epic proportions when he married Katy Perry in 2010 at a luxury resort in a tiger reserve in Rajasthan, India.

How many kids do Russell Brand and Laura Gallacher have?

In 2016, a year before they tied the knot, Brand and his wife welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Mabel. Two years later, Laura gave birth to her second daughter who they named Peggy. Gallacher is reportedly pregnant with the couple's third child. 

A few months ago Brand appeared podcast The Diary of a CEO hosted by Stephen Bartlett. During the interview he opened up about his experience as a father and what he has learned from it all.

"It taught me there is a lot more important in this world than me," he said "There's a lot more important stuff in this world than what I want, think or reckon. It taught me that love is real. It teaches you everything to become a father. All lessons are there."

Where are they now?

Currently Brand and Gallacher reside in Henley-On-Thames in a home with their two children. It's believed their Oxfordshire home was purchased in 2016 when they first became engaged and were expecting their first daughter.

How has Laura Gallacher responded to the allegations against her husband?

Over the past week all eyes have been on Brand and his wife. In response to the allegations of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse, Brand released a video denying the accusations made against him.

At this stage Gallacher hasn't personally responded although her sister, Kirsty re-shared Brand’s video response to her Instagram account before deleting.
