We’re nearly at the end of another week, and so it’s time for our regular best & worst post. It seems like this week’s gone faster than ever- maybe because the Mamamia office spent one day on location at the Sunday Life photoshoot (behind-the-scene photos and videos coming soon, stay tuned!).
This week we’ve looked at everything from carbon tax to talking on the phone while driving and going back to work after having a baby. We also talked about our favourite childhood books and gave Charlie Sheen some well-needed advice.
On a more personal note, I answered your questions about my new book and shared my story of emotional abuse along with regular Mamamia contributor, Nina Funnell.
So, onto best and worst. I have two bests this week:
1. My cousin won an Oscar. Have I mentioned that? Oh yes, I think I have here and here. In a couple of weeks he’s having a Gold party and we all get to go over and touch Oscar. There will be photos. PLENTY of photos.
2. The first First Wednesday Club – if you missed this post, check it out. It’s a brilliant idea by one of the most generous and kind women I know, Bec Sparrow who is going to take her idea of bringing awareness to a particular charity and inspiring us all to DO SOMETHING small that can have big results each month. I read the post, I went to the website she told me about and I had the most wonderful time reading the stories of the women, deciding which worthy idea I’d support and then making a donation that was small to me, huge to them. Wait, it wasn’t even a donation, it was a loan. Run, don’t walk. Honestly, just lifted me right out of my woe-is-me mood and was so deeply humbling. And wonderful.
Worst: At the beginning of the week, I tweeted about a mag that digitally stretched the ‘after’ shot on a celeb weight loss story. I’m not going to name the celeb or the mag because I like the celebrity very much & don’t wish to drag her into it. She wouldn’t have known. But she looks terrific as is and they didn’t need to fake it. More proof that the way women are represented in many mags is abhorrent & insulting.
On My Mind: the gathering of Mamamia readers in Adelaide. They sent me this photo and I wanted to share it with you.
What were your best and worst moments this week?
