What is Omnilux? Should I be doing it?

Images: supplied.

Omnilux is not for the claustrophobic. I just thought you should know that from the start.

It’s the equivalent of a blue light disco for your face; you’re wearing protective goggles under the super bright LED lights, but it’s a warm, antagonising 20 minutes for anyone who does not enjoy having things right up in their face. Once the lights are switched off, you’re plunged into darkness and your eyes do that starry thing that normally happens right before you faint.

But if you can cope with all that (some people even fall asleep) it does work. Post-treatment I had a little redness (I have microdermabrasion and Omnilux in the same facial) but my face was definitely plumper and immediately radiant.

We spoke to Melanie Grant, Director of Double Bay Clinic, for a more technical explanation of what Omnilux is and who it’s right for.

What is it? OMNILUX is a non-surgical light therapy treatment that uses pure light to help stimulate your skins natural collagen production. The technology was Created in the UK 10 years ago,  it doesn’t contain any UV rays. The treatment promotes a firmer, plumper, hydrated and blowy complexion without pain, trauma or downtime.

How does it work? There are 3 different lamps, each one with a different coloured light that treats different conditions. OMNILUX Blue is best for oily, acne-prone skin as it works on minimising sebum, bacteria and inflammation. OMNILUX Revive has a red light that stimulates collagen and increases the moisture in your skin and  OMNILUX Plus, uses a thermal light to help rebuild and strengthen deep tissue and increase the skins blood flow.

How much does it cost? $100 per treatment (it’s available nationally, check out omnilux.com.au for more details).

How many treatments you need? I recommend a course of 10 treatments for best results.

What skin types/concerns will it suit? The best thing about Omnilux is that it’s safe, can be used on any skin type or colour and all complexions will benefit. I love it as an anti-ageing, healing treatment.
