It was the reality television scandal of 2014. Bachelor Blake Garvey proposed to Sam Frost during the finale only to later leave her for second-runner-up Louise Pillidge.
“There is a beautiful love story here,” Blake told The Project after the news broke. “I came into the whole experience looking for love. I have been so blessed to be able to find that.”
Pillidge moved to Perth to be with the auctioneer, and for a time all was well. But by April of 2016, their heavily scrutinised relationship cracked.
For the now 29-year-old, the negativity proved too draining, the notion that she was Garvey’s third choice too hard to shake.
After three months of counselling, they resigned to the fact that they were "suffocating" and announced their split with a shoot in tabloid magazine, New Idea.
"We sat down recently and Blake said: ‘It’s just not working - I feel like we’re treading water’. I knew deep down that he was right but I would never have been strong enough to say it," Pillidge told the publication.
How do you know if you’re in the wrong relationship? (Post continues below.)
At the time the pair were living in Garvey's Subiaco apartment, sleeping in separate rooms. But a year on, Pillidge is living back in Queensland.
The real estate agent made the move to the Gold Coast in August and accepted a job at boutique agency Luxure, which specialises in prestige property sales.
She's also ditched the white-blonde hair for light-brown locks.
Louise, one year on.
Blake who?
