My friend had organised her hairdresser buddy to do my hair, but 2weeks before the wedding she cancelled. My fiance's sister died unexpectedly the week before the wedding. I really wanted to postpone it, but the family insisted it go ahead. We decided to have family only, out of respect. Another friend had told me her friend would do my makeup, and when I still hadn't heard from her two days before the wedding, I asked my friend what was up. She said'oh, do you still want your make up done?', then told me the makeup lady was busy that day.
On the morning of the wedding, I was in tears, I didn't want to do it. We had a house full of family, and it just felt wrong. My teenage daughter ended up doing my hair and makeup, which was lovely. After reciting the vows, the celebrant pronounced us 'Mr and Mrs...', I nearly gasped out loud. I didn't know my name automatically changed, I thought I had a choice whether I took his name or not. My kids (from a previous relationship) looked like I had betrayed them as I had said I'd keep our surname. After the ceremony, we came home, and it was quite sombre. My mum decided that it was a good day to tell me she didn't like my (by then husband), and that she was going to stay in a hotel, and probably not visit again.
Then his family left to choose flowers for the casket.
It was an awful day, and I really wish we had just postponed it.

Was that my wedding? Also My MIL grabbed a handful of invitations two weeks before our wedding for her friends. Luckily they didn't come!! I was also told that I didn't look like a real bride!!
My sister got very drunk and slept with one of our guests.
All good now though twenty years later.
