It took a year for this teen to work up the courage to come out to his mum and when he did, he recorded the entire thing. It’s one of the most beautiful interactions between a mother and son we have ever seen and a must-watch for all parents.
Ryan’s mum was lying down on the lounge when her son turned the computer on and quietly pressed ‘record’. Ten minutes later he finally found the courage to approach her.
He started off with a hug that lasted almost two minute. His mum embraced him without question but later confessed she could feel his heart beating rapidly and was wondering what was going on. Still Ryan couldn’t bring himself to say the words. He started sobbing and his mother became concerned. She asked him what was wrong. But all he could bring himself to say was “I love you”.
He finally found the courage to tell her he was gay.
Ryan comes out at around the two minute mark but the best part is watching the nine minutes after where mother and son share what is probably the most important conversation of their lives.

I made this video because when I was contemplating coming out for the last year, I found other similar videos of people coming out to family members on a hidden camera really helpful. I noticed that there weren’t very many of these videos, so I wanted to create my own to help other people in the same way… My mom reacted in an amazing way, and I really hope that all of you have a similar experience.
