I think he's doing what he's been hired to do. Play his character Patrick Jane - since there is all the talk about "I know what you're THINKING" (as his character is so good at reading people) and he's wearing the 3 piece suit, etc. I think doesn't quite work though, as it seems odd to have an Australian putting on an American accent in an ad clearly aimed at Australians.
I can't bear this advert and I love Simon Baker. I turn the sound down when it comes on. I can't explain it, it just makes my skin crawl.
