RIP, Mindy Project: Some of our favourite TV shows have been axed.

It’s that time of the year when TV stations give shows the chop (and our hearts too.)

There will be no more curling up in front of the flatscreen with a Magnum ice cream to switch on The Mindy Project.

(Well, sort of. Fox has announced it’s axing the show after three seasons… but it’s looking like Mindy might be moving over to Hulu in the coming months.)

Not all shows are going to be saved though. We’re going to have to say goodbye to some of our favourites:

1. Revenge.

After four seasons and copious love triangles, Emily Van Camp will be bowing out gracefully.

Revenge fans could have seen this move coming, of course (caution: brief spoiler alert ahead.). In the last season, the show bid farewell to two major characters — Josh Bowman’s Daniel and Madeleine Stowe’s Victoria Grayson — and the other arcs had taken major turns that hinted at possible resolution. Emily Thorne even gave up her Amanda Clarke impersonation. Woah. Really, we just all wanted a Jack and Emily happy ending, didn’t we?

2. The Mentalist.

It finally happened: Patrick Jane put a ring on it. After seven seasons of sexual tension, and a minor rain check after a serial killer kidnapped our sexiest “detective”, Patrick married Teresa Lisbon.

Fans rejoiced. Pregnancy announcements were made (!!!). I mean seriously it was one of the sweetest season finale’s known to man, OF COURSE it had to end there. We’re only sad we don’t get to stare at Simon Baker (as much) anymore.

Sigh.

3. Two and a Half Men.

So we had Charlie Sheen and then Ashton Kutcher and then… the show kind of fell apart. We love Ashton for his goofy humour, so when he was acting all sex-crazed-Charlie, it was just WEIRD. It was also 100% odd when Miley Cyrus joined the ranks. I feel like I’ve watched Jake’s whole life on my TV screen so that gives me some sense of achievement. After twelve seasons – it was time.

4. Parks and Recreation.

Quite possible the most non-PC but relatable show to ever grace our TV screens for seven incredible seasons. You laughed because we were April and Andy’s relationship, you had regrets like Craig, you felt like Garry when you were lonely and you wish you lived in Pawnee.

We know they all went on to be largely successful (sort of) but we will continue to feel all the feels through re-runs.

5. Glee.

You sort of hated Rachel from the get-go for being better than you at everything, but then fell in love with her voice and never looked back. After six seasons, the musical/high-school (did they even learn???) cast has seen more celebrities grace its halls that you didn’t realise could even sing (hello, Gwyneth Paltrow) than any other show.

So congrats, Glee. I’ll be looking up your tunes until the end of time.

It’s not all bad news though, some of the best and brightest will still be hitting our airwaves.

Castle, Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family, One Upon A Time, Bones, Empire, 2 Broke Girls, The Vampire Diaries and Arrow are back for more this year. Rejoice.

And if you’re missing your favourite cast members already… you can enjoy them here one last time.

When I'm half way through a sentence my eyes have already jumped all over the place to read it. They could've put the "this article contains spoilers" warning at the beginning of the article.

Thanks for pointing it out though, very helpful.

Most of my favourite shows were axed decades ago. You'll cope.
