'I’m a beauty writer. Here are 5 genius beauty hacks I use while travelling.'

I’m a self-confessed beauty junkie. And if you’re anything like me, whenever you go on holiday you end up paying for extra luggage JUST to fit your skincare and cosmetics.

Or tip your travel companion's luggage over the scales too after jamming a few things in there (guilty as charged).

While you're here, learn Kelly's advice on how to organise your beauty products when travelling. Post continues after video.

So! Now that some of us are fortunate enough to travel again, I managed to find some helpful beauty hacks so you can spend more time by the pool and less time on your 12-step skincare routine. Because nobody's got time for that on holidays.

Below, you’ll find five of the best beauty tips I’ve learnt when travelling.

Beauty hack #1: Get your brows and lashes done first.

A little bit of prep goes a long way, and this prep is totally worth it. We know you’re already packed and ready to go, because you’ve been counting down the days until you board that flight, so do yourself a favour and get your brows and lashes done a few days before your check-in.

I personally opt for a lash lift - but if extensions are your thing, go off! Whatever will make your eyes pop with minimal effort, you’re on the right track.

While my lash lift is working its magic, I opt for an eyebrow thread and tint. It just freshens up my brows and gives me a more angular definition to my face.

Here's a before and after of what I get done:

It's subtle, but I’m about maximum results for minimal effort.

By not having to do my brows or lashes while on holiday, I’ve just gained hours of my life back and given it to my well-earned break.

Beauty hack #2: Ditch hair tools and find a low-maintenance style that works for you.

While I love freshly styled hair, the last thing I want is to wrangle hot hair tools when there’s a coconut marg waiting for me by the pool. Plus, it doesn’t leave much spontaneity for day-to-night hair or vice versa.

Ahem... what if I want to swim all afternoon but then go hit up happy hour straight after?!

For me, the hairstyle I generally turn to is braids. For you, it might be a slicked-back bun or embracing your natural hair texture.

I also swear by hair wraps. I have them in all different patterns and colours and they accessorise any outfit.

Just look at these colours:

Beauty hack #3: An all-in-one skincare product.

This is where I usually start shoving things into other people's suitcases.

I have about 79754 products that I use on my face alone, and while narrowing it down is like choosing your favourite child, it is doable.

Well, it is now that I’ve found my Holy Grail product.

I’ve raved about this before and I’ll rave about it again. It’s the Living Libations – Best Skin Ever Seabuckthorn Oil. And it really does live up to its name.

Heard of it?

It's luxuriously delicious with its golden gleam and earthy scent. Packed with ingredients like omega fatty acids and vitamins, it's an all-in-one cleanser, exfoliator and moisturiser.

It also comes in a heap of different sizes, including travel minis, and has some giant refills. You can grab 100ml for $70.

If there’s one skincare product I’m packing for the holidays, it’s this!

Beauty hack #4: Sunscreen and a golden glow.

Okay, this one isn’t super surprising - but I’m heavy on sun protection and I couldn’t not include it on the list.

Not only do I protect my skin for all the obvious health reasons, but it’s also your number one first-class VIP ticket to maintaining youthful, healthy-looking skin. I may be having the holiday of my dreams, but I have no intention of coming home looking like a leather handbag.

For this reason, I lather myself (multiple times a day) with sunscreen.

For an extra hint of glow, I like to opt for body shimmers that also offer SPF50 protection to make my skin look extra radiant and healthy.

I'm not able to specify what kind of formulas I recommend due to strict regulations around sunscreen, however, the market is bursting with lots of great options. Just make sure you're always applying enough and topping up as the day goes on!

Beauty hack #5: A deodorant and antiseptic crystal.

Yes! This is a thing. If you haven’t heard of this natural wonder yet, you’re welcome!

It’s called an alum crystal, and it's completely natural. Basically, if you were to lick it, it would taste saltier than the ocean. It has anti-bacterial and antiseptic qualities that make it so diverse in its uses.

We love a multi-use product!

I have been using it as my deodorant for the past five years and WOW. It works better than anything I’ve tried. I’m also sick of my aerosols always getting confiscated at airport security - so, in goes my alum crystal.

To use it, all you have to do is run it under water and apply it as you would a normal roll-on deodorant.

I also use it on pimples - it dries them out and they disappear almost overnight - and on any bites or cuts, as the antiseptic quality helps things heal quickly. Another all-in-one product for the win.

So, there you have it!

I hope these beauty travel hacks have helped you minimise your time and luggage space, while simultaneously maximising your time enjoying what your holiday has to offer.
