Here's the real reason Tori Spelling is having a baby. And it probably (definitely) wasn't a surprise.

She’s in the middle of some serious debt problems but that hasn’t stopped Tori Spelling from adding to her brood. Speaking to People Magazine this week, Tori revealed that she and husband Dean McDermott are expecting baby number five.

“It was a total surprise”, she said. “But we always wanted a big family. I’m really excited.”

Tori and Dean, who recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary, are already parents to Liam (9), Stella (8), Hattie (5) and Finn (4). Dean also has an 18 year old son from a previous marriage. It’s safe to say the Spelling/McDermott house is going to be a busy one.

Spelling told People that the couple were surprised by the news, having just finished the ‘baby’ stage with their son Finn.

“We just got Finn out of diapers; I thought we were in the clear!” Spelling said. “For the first time this year, they’re all in school. So it’s like, wow. We’re basically starting over.”

Despite getting ready for a newborn in the house again, Spelling says the timing is ideal. “This baby happened at the best time. Nothing is ever perfect, but I’m so madly in love with my husband and with our kids. The idea of adding to that is such a blessing.”

But cynics are claiming that Tori's baby news is a desperate attempt to resolve some of her much-publicised debt issues. You see, in Hollywood, babies equal the big bucks.

There are photo opportunities galore right from the beginning. The pregnancy news, the bump photos, baby showers, and gender reveal parties.

That's not to mention the first picture deals which can be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. All of which could go a long way to helping a couple in financial debt.

The baby news comes just one day after a judge ordered Tori to pay back over $38,000 worth of outstanding credit card debt. American Express were forced to pursue legal action against the former 90210 star after she failed to meet the minimum payments required.

That's not the only outstanding debt the couple are dealing with. Earlier in the year, it was revealed that together they owed tax agencies over $259,000.

Tori famously inherited only $800,000 of her father Aaron Spelling's estate which was estimated to be worth around $600 million when he passed away in 2006. The blow came after a long-standing feud between Spelling and her parents.

Tori and Dean went down the reality TV route in an attempt to fund their lifestyle. But her mother, Candy, later revealed that she had taken responsibility of Tori's finances.

She told TMZ in January, "I’ve been helping her out. I’m paying all her bills now. I’m not paying extras like … any back payments [on credit cards]. Just for the house and the kids’ school and the food.”

Spelling says she understands why she had experienced financial strain, blaming her upbringing. In her 2013 Memoir, 'Spelling It Like It Is" she says "'It’s no mystery why I have money problems."

"I grew up rich beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. I never knew anything else. Even when I try to embrace a simpler lifestyle, I can’t seem to let go of my expensive tastes. Even when my tastes aren’t fancy, they’re still costly. I moved houses to simplify my life, but lost almost a million dollars along the way."

I find it hilarious that in the family portrait, her husbands face is half concealed.

This article has such a mean tone- from the headline right through the article. Perhaps she did "surprisingly" fall pregnant- they are clearly a pretty fertile couple. Either way, all evidence in the article is unsubstantiated- despite the definitive phrase in the headline.
