Then, on June 21, Alex shared the heartbreaking news that they had lost their baby.

"We are absolutely devastated to share the news that we lost our sweet baby boy this week," Alex wrote on Instagram.

"There are no words that can truly capture the depth of this pain. Nothing can prepare you for this. Our hearts will never be the same. I had the privilege of carrying you for 26 weeks, and we will carry you in our hearts for a lifetime. Until we meet again, Leo Grey."

Alex concluded her post with a message to their son: "Fly high my angel."

The news has deeply affected their close-knit online community, with fellow TikTok stars and influencers sharing messages of love and support in the comments.

"I love you and our new guardian angel. Here with you always through everything," wrote YouTube star Kat Stickler.

"Omg Alex I am so sorry 💔. My heart hurts for you guys so much," added social media star Tara Mackey.

Over the past several weeks, Alex and Jon have shared many pregnancy milestones and moments of excitement with their followers. In an interview with PEOPLE earlier this year, Jon shared how he knew they wanted to become parents.

"We knew we were ready when we talked about [it] every day," Bouffard said at the time. "It became part of our regular conversation, and the timing finally felt right. I'm excited to have a mini 'us' enter the world. Half of me, half of her. But hopefully, it's 100% her personality."

He also expressed his joy about becoming a father and how they felt ready to embrace parenthood after years of consideration.

"I was completely shocked and immediately thrilled," he told the publication at the time.

"As a planner, I jumped right into 'dad mode' and started thinking of everything we had to do and prepare for."

Alex added that she, too, was pleasantly surprised.

"When I saw the test said 'positive', I truly couldn't believe it," she said.

"I had imagined how that moment could feel so many times before, but nothing can prepare you for the emotion of knowing you have a baby on the way and life is about to change."
