Zoë Foster Blake reveals the Australian TV personality who inspired The Wrong Girl.

On Wednesday night, Zoë Foster Blake appeared on The Project to discuss a particularly special episode of The Wrong Girl – the TV series based on her bestselling book of the same name.

You see, it was this week’s episode which saw Foster Blake make a cameo as an extra.

But during her chat with The Project co-hosts, she gave an insight into the inspiration for a defining scene in both the book and the show.

“The opening scene in the first ep…is about Fifi Box, actually,” said the 36-year-old, referring to a scene where Lily sleeps with her male friend, and is then told (in great detail) about the woman he’s in love with.

"It was an anecdote that she'd given me, and I told her, straight down the line, 'I have to put that in the book Fifi.' That's so bad and so great at the same time."

"I'm really sorry about your heartbreak," she joked. "But I'm going to take that."

Foster Blake said Box was more than happy to have her (devastating) story included in the book.  "She's very generous in that sense," said Foster Blake. "So she gave it to me."

It really is a scene that hits way too close to home for many of us.

As do many of Lily's awkward moments, which we presume are drawn from some of Zoë Foster Blake's own horror stories.

Even as an extra, Foster Blake managed to contribute to Lily's disorganised and frantic life, running into the protagonist as an over-excited junior staff member whom Lily didn't recognise.

We'd love to know the truth behind all the borderline-unbelievable-but-also-completely-believable-because-you've-been-there moments on The Wrong Girl, but somehow we think hearing about Fifi Box's unfortunate experience is as close as we'll get.
