Mike White says he would love to film a season of The White Lotus in Australia.

With millions of fans worldwide, The White Lotus has been our TV saving grace. It's been there for us amid lockdowns and now post-pandemic, and soon we'll be gifted with season three

It's all about location for The White Lotus, an anthology series built around a hotel franchise. The first season was set in Hawaii and the second in Sicily. And according to Variety, South-East Asia is going to play host to the next iteration of the hit series.

Multiple sources close to the production have said, "The White Lotus is heading to Thailand."

As for the next presumably super-luxe setting, we already know that the first two seasons were filmed at Four Seasons resorts. So we are quietly holding our breath that the hotel chain will volunteer as tribute for the next round. They have four properties in the country all up: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and the Golden Triangle.

So where does good ol' Australia come into this, you might be asking yourselves?

Although it looks like South-East Asia is locked down for season three, creator Mike White said this week that Australia is one of the destinations he wants to film at for an upcoming additional season. ICONIC.

A look back at the trailer for season two of The White Lotus. Post continues below.

At his evening talk program with Vivid Sydney over the weekend, Mike White was in conversation with Jennifer Coolidge, hosted by Benjamin Law.

When asked if there could be an Aussie edition of The White Lotus, White said it was a prospect he was very keen on.

"My dream would be to hit every continent, so yeah, this is like its own continent basically," he said to the crowd.

"We kind of have to come to Australia if we keep going. It would be so fun. Obviously, there's a huge wealth of talent here and the beauty is inarguable, so it feels like it checks all the boxes."

The talent certainly is strong, and White has seen that firsthand. In season one, Australian actor Murray Bartlett played the hotel manager Armond. And anyone who has watched season one knows that Armond was one of the best characters we've seen on TV.

White said that if the series decided to film a prequel to season one, Bartlett could return to that prequel show. Which makes sense considering how Bartlett's story ends in season one...

"I absolutely think that's possible, we were just talking about that," he said referring to a conversation with Jennifer Coolidge. White also said he could bring back Coolidge's character Tanya if prequels were in the mix.

"It's a funny idea. And making Jennifer, you know, 20 years younger, that would be fun too. We can bring Murray Bartlett back."

When asked where she would want the prequel series to take place, Coolidge said: "Australia gets my vote."

As for what the next season is set to bring, White has also previously dished on some details.

Season one was centred around privilege and class, while season two focused on sex and relationships. And it sounds like there could be an East-meets-West narrative for season three.

"My instinct is that maybe [season three] has something to do with spirituality. Eastern versus Western religion or Western people in an Eastern culture," White told Vanity Fair

"Maybe after sex [in season two] it would be nice to have something that's a little more celestial or something that's a little more out of the carnal, I guess."

So will Tanya be sunning herself and lounging on yachts in Queensland? Will Armond be causing hotel havoc at luxe establishments on Rottnest Island? Or will there be a Sydney cityscape season focus?

We'll have to stay tuned!
