You’ll never look at this classic kids’ book the same way again.
Remember the children’s book The Very Hungry Caterpillar?
Two authors have taken the piss in the most accurate parody yet: The Very Hungover Caterpillar.
For those not familiar with Eric Carle’s original tale, the caterpillar protagonist goes on a massive food binge in an effort to burst out of his hairy caterpillar skin.
He eats an apple, but is still hungry. He eats two pears, but is still hungry. He eats a shit ton of stuff and is still hungry.
MORE PARODY: “There’s a sequel to Go The F**k To Sleep. And I need it.”
The adult-centred Very Hungover Caterpillar follows the same idea: That when you are horrendously hungover, there is not much you can do that will make you feel better.
You eat a cheeseburger, but you are still hungover. You throw back a Berocca, but you are still hungover. You try some KFC chips with extra chicken salt and you are still hungover.
You slink around munching on things, waiting for that one magical moment you will burst out of your slimy skin and back to the butterfly you were before you starting sucking on lemon slices and throwing back tequila.
Hey dad, read this: how to look amazing even when you have a hangover.
In the book by parents Josie Lloyd and Emlyn Rees, it’s dad who struggles to shake a massive hangover.
He has three young children who want to play. But dad is feeling seedy as all hell. So he munches through toast, bacon, Berocca, asprin, seven bowls of curry, and a huge bowl of ice cream.
He huffs and puffs and struggles through the day at home.
The original caterpillar builds himself a cocoon and stays inside for two weeks, something many of us wish were possible. The dad manages to cocoon himself in the shower and then in a doona.
Until finally he finally he makes it to the other side.
The authors said the inspiration came from the ordeal of nursing a hangover while surrounded by small children.
“Everyone has a drink and sometimes people have a hangover – but that can be horrific when you have kids to look after.” they told this parenting website.
“Our book follows all the stages of a hangover with small children – waking up in the morning, needing huge amounts of food but still having to function and not having the luxury of lying on the sofa without anything to do.”
The 5 times you remember that having a hangover with a baby is hell.

Think it also the same peeps that wrote "we are going on a bar hunt" - bought it for my mum for XMAS! There seems to be a theme.....
It's the natural sequel to 'bar hunt', I think.
