In an exclusive interview with News Corp, The Veronicas’ Jessica Origliasso has confirmed she is dating actress Ruby Rose, after the pair reunited while filming a new video clip.
The Veronicas’ single On Your Side is about maintaining friendships with ex-partners, and after Rose heard it, she asked to help with the video.
Ultimately, Rose and Origliasso ended up playing romantic partners, and it was literally during filming that the two fell back in love, says Origliasso.
“It’s a little confronting,” she says.
“Ruby and I laugh about how people will be seeing us [falling back in love] in real time, now immortalised forever in this video.
“But she’s incredible. I’m so proud to be with a woman I not only adore but I respect and admire highly. She is the kindest, most ambitious, most compassionate woman.”
It isn’t the first time the two have been in a relationship.
Eight years ago they were together, and Origliasso faced intense media scrutiny about her sexuality.
Even now, 31-year-old Origliasso doesn’t like to use labels. “I fall in love with somebody’s soul,” she said.
But she will be doing things differently this time around. “When Ruby and I first met we learnt some really hard lessons about privacy in media early on,” she said. “We’re very protective of what we have now.”
In terms of how it feels to have reunited with Rose, now 30, Origliasso says, “It’s absolutely magical.”
According to Origliasso, it all came down to chemistry. “There was such explicit chemistry between Ruby and I that shooting was very intense,” she said. “We got to know each other on a deeper level. We’ve hung out a lot over the last eight years but we hadn’t had that opportunity where it was just the two of us.”
Luckily, Jessica’s twin sister Lisa wholeheartedly approves of the relationship.
“Lisa is the biggest fan on earth,” she said, emphasising that they both felt having Rose in the new video was fitting. “The song was about past loves and the unconditional bond you have with somebody.
“Obviously I’ve always had that with Ruby. For her to be in this music video and be so creatively involved with us felt very rewarding.”
Fans have been quick to support the couple, and have already bestowed them with perhaps the best couple name of this year: Juby.

I find most celebrities playing with being lesbian all a bit suss. When I first started attending lesbian events a decade ago nobody looked like these ultra glam, size zero, plastic femmes? Lesbians I meet rebel against looking like traditional stereotypes of femininity and that was and is so very cool! The majority of celebrity lesbians are not the real deal, looking like the anorexic filler faced blow up xxx

Some people are bi or pan, too. And what's with the "when I first started attending lesbian events a decade ago nobody looked like these ultra glam, size zero..." etc. Well, probably not. Ruby's a model. Jess is a singer. Not all lesbians (or bisexuals, etc) look the same. Frankly, I think you're stereotyping.
